In June of 2013 we started looking for a hot tub. We were approached by Shawn McAvoy an employee at Polar Spas at a home/reno trade show; he was professional and answered all our questions. We expressed very clearly we would need financing and receive the hot tube BEFORE summer ended. We were extremely animate that we required the tube ASAP, and Shawn reassured us that it would come in the month of August at the latest. We put our trust in him and he has never lived up to a word he has said.

First problem was when we expressed the need for financing and he told us after we signed all the papers the bank would call us to start the process. One week passed with no call from any banks or Polar Spas. So we decided to get our own financing after waiting for a couple more days and not hearing from anyone. I decided to call Shawn myself and left a massage expressing how disappointed I was.

Second problem is that we gave Shawn a deposit at the trade show, however it was not to be cashed until after June 30th (have it in his own writing). He decided to cash it well before June 30th.

Third problem; We then went to the Calgary location and paid in full for the hot tub. We were told that it would take 60 to 90 days for delivery from that point. We then realized Shawn had told us what we wanted to hear even if he knew it wasn’t going to happen. Being the nice people we are, we decided to take it on the chin again. Now we expected the hot tub to come in 90 days which would be in September.

Fourth problem is that in 90 days there was no hot tub and we hadn't even received a phone call. Once again I call Shawn, leave a message, and once again he doesn’t return my call. I wait a week and call again, he picks up and tells me he will look into where the tub is and call me back.

Fifth problem is that Shawn does not call back. I waited another week and I call the Calgary office, talked to another person and in 5-10 minutes he locates the hot tub on truck 14. He then tells me they are on truck number 11 and it takes about a week or a week and a half per truck to be delivered. After explaining the situation to him he assures me they will call me by the end of the week explaining to me what happened and fix things.

Sixth problem is that a week goes by and no call. I wait a couple more days to call and leave another massage for Shawn. I have not heard from him and we still have no Hot Tub to date. I want everyone to hear our story as our experience to date with Polar Spas has been a HUGE disappointment. Hopefully I can update this post with a happy ending one day.

I would like to update everyone, we did receive our hot tub and it is great. The hot tub is perfect, long wait but quality product.
