An assisted review is collected by a contractor on behalf of the homeowner after their work is completed. The homeowner must confirm the text of the review and may make any changes she or he deems appropriate. The homeowner then assigns the contractor a review score out of 10. Assisted reviews receive the same scrutiny as other reviews and must follow our review guidelines.
My goal for our backyard in the Beach was to achieve an outdoor living room rivaling our indoor living space! I developed a plan which included no straight lines and no squares as is typical in most back yards! My plan included rounded decks, curved walkways, stone flower beds of different heights, textures, shapes and colours, and a strategically placed pond and waterfall visible from inside our home! The plan was so complex that 2 of the five landscapers passed on the project, 2 were outlandish in terms of their quotes and then there was Sal from Under the Sun Ecological Landscaping. Within ten minutes of meeting Sal and showing him my drawing I knew that this was the best person that would come close to executing my “masterpiece”. My gut was right in that not only did Sal deliver on his promise, he exceeded my every expectation as can be witnessed in the before and after pictures of our dream outdoor living space!
What the pictures don’t convey are Sal’s dedication, his timeliness, his creativity in problem solving, and mostly his attention to even the minutest detail.
I would whole heartedly recommend Sal and Under the Sun Ecological Landscaping for any outdoor project that needs to stand above the ordinary.

Geoff, thanks for submitting this spectacular review, with great pictures too! I really appreciate the kind words you wrote for me and the company. This job was both challenging and extremely satisfying at the same time. I loved the design from the get go! I am amazed at how much you were able to envision for your back yard, it's all about a good dream! Upper stone seating area by the waterfall overlooking the lower curved cedar deck dining area, raised planting beds and cobblestone paths! Brilliant.
The long curving stone retaining wall has definitely gone down in my book of proud accomplishments, it was a true challenge and joy to complete.
I loved that there was not a single straight line in the entire project! From gentle curves to tight curves, everything turned out perfectly. And the artistic finishes you added with the wooden carvings and hand painted mural at the back walkout were truly the cherry on top!I am excited to help you come up with something equally stunning for the front landscaping this spring!
