My company gave me $1500 to move from Ottawa to a small island community outside of Vancouver. It took me a while to find a company that would charge me around that amount, and Atlantic Van Lines was pretty much the only one.
Yes, I was worried, because there are some negative reviews out there, but people need to be realistic and understand what it takes to organize a cross country move. If you know in advance that it'll take longer than you expect, you shouldn't worry.
The movers couldn't come pick up my things when they said they would, because there was a storm. They told us right away, and came the next day. My things were supposed to take up to 3 weeks to make it across Canada. I let it go to 5 weeks, because I knew that they might be a bit slower. Turns out that my stuff was in Vancouver, and I hadn't been called yet. This was not Atlantic Van Line's fault, but the company they outsourced to on this end. Jenn from AVL was very quick to get me in touch with the right people, and my delivery was booked for two days later.
This is where I need to give 10 stars - my things were delivered by one (ONE!) little eastern european man, and he was wonderful. He carried everything into my house, unwrapped everything, and was very careful not to get my things dirty. Not a single thing was broken or damaged.
So, yes, it took longer than it might have with another, bigger company, but for this price, I could not have gotten any better, and I will definitely be calling them again when I move back to Ottawa.
