Window replacement with 2 basement cutouts
I booked Vinyl Pro Windows to replace all the windows in my house total of 10 windows and to have two basement windows made larger. Jeremy was the salesman and I was impressed by the quality of the windows that he showed us. Because I had cancer and lymphodema, I asked if the curtains would be rehung, and everything cleaned up. I was told that everything would be put back the way it was. The gentlemen that came out and measured, was also very professional and I was told by him that it would be his crew that did the installation. I did not get his crew. Initially this job was scheduled to be started on October 28, 2014. I was contacted and asked if they could reschedule for November 3rd, due to a crew in Edmonton having an accident. I agreed. On November 3rd, a two man crew arrived at my house at 11:00 AM. They worked for approximately 2 hours, left for about an hour, came back and then worked till approx 4:30 PM and left. They left the windows that they had removed on the Blvd in front of my house; they left bundles of wood with nails exposed on my front lawn. On Tuesday November 4, they arrived at approximately 10:30 AM. They worked for 2 hours and then left. They were gone for more than 2 hours (they were trying to take dirt to the dump, but the City landfills were not taking dirt) When they arrived back at my house, they advised that they would not be doing anymore work at my house as they needed to go back to the shop to unload a new shipment of windows. They did not take away the garbage from the previous day and so the windows were left on the Blvd and the wood with nails exposed was left on my front lawn. At this point I contacted the company unhappy with the unsafe work site. Tisha, the Calgary Manager came out and basically after discussing it made the comment that it was a construction site. He also advised that he would guarantee the job was finished on the 5th, he would send an extra person if it didn't look like they were going to be done. I have two small dogs and there was no where safe that I could let them out to do their business. I have a roommate in the basement and he was unable to get from the back, where he parks to the door to get into the house, without climbing over mounds of dirt. On Wednesday November 5th the two installers returned at around 9:00 AM. They continued to dig the window wells, the dirt that they removed on the South side of my house was then piled on my patio, they did not move my BBQ and piled dirt against it. They continued to work throughout the day. When they left on the Wednesday evening around 5, they still did not remove the old windows from the Blvd, or remove any of the wood with the nails exposed. They had actually left a large piece of wood, right near the sidewalk with nails exposed. My neighbor who is 85 years old was walking his little dog and came up my walk and moved the piece of wood so that it was not such a hazard to the public and to our dogs. The job was not completed on November 5th as promised by Tisha. They had also filled the window wells with dirt, no gravel. I asked the installers about the gravel and they said they just put it on top as decorative. I knew this was not correct and so again contacted the company. I spoke to Yuri, who is the CEO, regarding proper amount of gravel in the window wells, he told me that he would contact the installers and ensure that they remove the dirt and put 4 - 6 inches of gravel. Tisha had also advised that he would ensure that we were happy and would come out and see me on Wednesday the 5th. He did not. On Wednesday evening not only could you not use the gate at the back, you could not use the front gate either The same 2 guys came back on Thursday November 6th, They removed some dirt from the window wells and showed me that there was approx 5 inches of gravel on top. They completed the job at approx 2:30 on Thursday November 6th, however they did not clean up my patio. It was left caked with dirt, all they did was take a shovel and scrape some of the dirt off. My BBQ was full of dirt, my clay plant pot was broken. Although I am still not supposed to sweep, I went out to the patio and swept and used my hose to spray off at least some of the dirt so that we could get into the house without tracking excessive amounts of dirt into the house. Jeremy the salesman came back out and he was not happy that they had not rehung my curtains, but said that he had just found out that the installers did not do that, he apologized and said he thought they did. When I went out to try and do a little bit of a cleanup, I noticed that they had taken my tarp that I use to cover my fire wood. Jeremy replaced the tarp on Saturday. I would not recommend this company for basement egress windows. I was disappointed that the installers did not clean their fingerprints off the upper windows. I have talked to other people that have had new windows installed (different companies) and their property was never left in a mess, windows were clean. I was very disappointed with the condition my yard was left in. However that has been resolved as well, as Yuri has agreed to pay what it will cost me to have it cleaned up in the spring. The windows look beautiful, and I already notice a major difference in the street noise. However the installation process because of the cutouts was a nightmare,
