Garage door emergency repair

I had called prestige garage doors for an emergency garage door repair. They showed up on time and did a great job. The tech took the time to explain everything to me and was very polite. The service was great and the price was reasonable. I highly recommend this company to all my friends.

Opener 1/2 horse power

one thing i really liked about this company is how professional the technician was. Had 2 garage door companies come by to fix a problem before and wasn't successful. one assessment from Alex and he fixed the problem. if your wondering what was the problem the door was grinding against the frame as the door was closing causing friction. I replaced my opener with a 1/2 horse power. Door operates very smoothly. I really appreciated the level of professionalism. Good Job Prestige !!

low ethics. felt like dealing with crooks.

Called a few places, this company looked good on website and were able to send someone within 2 hours. This I liked. Price quoted was $195 plus Tax. Okay, not great price. But reputable company from website. Standard 3/4 HP opener to replace the one I had installed.

Two guys came in truck and got started. Nice people. One lead and one helper. Fast workers. Knew what they were doing. All good.

I made sure to let them know that my garage door opener was not staying where you left it but would come down to close if not latched in with the opener. I wanted to make sure the guys knew about it so no one got hurt.

'okay' was the response. They spent at least an hour and did it right. I really liked the guys working and they were well skilled.

But, the work included tightening my garage spring and checking all the bolts on the garage door. They did put two bolts which were missing. This cost me $55 extra.

Not told at all about the bolt tightening cost or spring adjustment till bill time.

Guess what, if they don't balance the spring, then they won't warranty their work. But this will cost you $55. I had no idea.

I was quite surprised at this and asked why they didn't mention this cost before or at least during the service but just assumed that they could do anything and charge you for it as 'extra'.

The real shock came when I spoke with the main number to explain that companies can't just rack up a bill and charge you at the end without al least informing you about additional costs. I said it was wrong and that I should not have to pay the $55.

But guess what the manager told his service men to do on the phone: 'if customer doesn't pay the $55 then just undo the spring adjustment and void the warranty because the opener will fail'.

Yup. That is what you are dealing with when you call them.

Would you do this to customers if it was your business?

If a warranty will require the spring adjustment, then why is it done quietly and billed on top of the agreed fee? Don't pay? Manager tells workers to undo the balance and void warranty. Can you believe this?

I paid it in the end because I had to. Because they would have made my life hell for $55. Left me feeling very bad. No apology given for everything, just 'undo and void warranty and let fail'.

The $55 is not a big deal. It's nothing. It's the way in which I was spoken to by the service men and then the manager that I can't get over.

You are nothing to these people.

$525 dollars later and I still have a broken garage!

I actually recomended the company right after the service call because I thought the issue was fixed. Little did I know less than a week later the door would break again. I was told there was a year warranty but when I asked them to come back and look at it. They wanted another $95 for the service call. Crooks. DO not hire under any circumstances. They dont do quality work. IT will break again.

Similar experience to others, THIS WAS A TERRIBLE COMPANY. "Technician" was nothing more than a salesman. Service was to be $90 plus parts, but the only parts they could offer was a new remote at $100 each. A really bad experience - BEWARE.

We were told a repair would be $90 plus parts. They had no idea how to fix our remote controls. All they could offer were new ones for another $200. The person was salesman only, with no ability to fix anything.

Garage Door and Opener

I called around 2 in the morning and someone actually answered. We scheduled for 8 am. And the technician arrived exactly at 8!. Adam showed me that the spring was broken on the door. I had it replaced and it was working better than it had ever been. I would recommend this company to my family. Call prestige!

Fix garage door key pad

Don't hire these ppl. We hired them to fix a keypad, the rep showed up late and I'm pretty sure he didn't actually look at the keypad. He up sold us on remotes and two weeks later the keypad stopped working again. We called to have them fix it again and we're told it would be a separate service call we would have to pay for again even though it was the same problem. TERRIBLE SERVICE AND ATTITUDE. Will be bringing a formal BBB complaint they were that bad.

Repair of garage door roller

One of the nylon rollers came out of the track. We called and because it was a Sunday, we opted to pay the $195 premium service call. By the time the service was completed (within 45 minutes), the $195 had increased to $638.45, including another $95 for labour, and $275.00 for ten nylon rollers, plus tax. We do not recommend this company and we will NOT be using them again. No amount of discussion about the gouging on the bill resulted in a resolution.

Garage Door Repair

Made a huge mistake by not checking home stars first before calling this company. Car was stuck in the garage so I panicked and didn't do any research before calling these guys (yes, completely my fault). They charged $95 for their technician just to show up. When he arrived, he said the springs were broken and both had to be replaced. Since it's a solid wood door, he said I had to get "premium" springs at $345/each. When I came back outside to check on them, he had already taken off the drums and brackets and advised that it would be $320 to replace those parts. He did not even ask first before replacing those parts! Finally, he said mymetal rollers needed to be replaced because they were loose and the door could collapse...price was $250 for 14 NYLON rollers. When I finally sat down and did some research, I realized they had astronomically inflated the charges for the parts. I was so naive believing everything he said (unfortunately I am clearly too trusting). I am so embarrassed to even write this as I can't stop kicking myself for calling these guys. My only reprieve is writing this and potentially saving someone else from being ripped off.
