It was time to replace our shingles and after researching shingle types, manufacturers and contractors we decided Turnbull Roofing and Renovations Ltd. had all the attributes we were looking for in a company. Chris explained how they are an Owen's Corning preferred contractor presented us with a quote, timeline and service that would be provided. Steve and the crew started and finished as scheduled. They cleaned up each day leaving the property clean each time. Product is as quoted, job installation and finished product is clean, they checked for potential leaks and made preventive mtce adjustments to our skylight (included in the cost). Transferable warranty is also provided. Turnbull is professional and friendly from start to finish. Their service is great and I would highly recommend them to anyone! . We had our roof replaced on our century home and also had our rather hazardous chimney removed. It looks absolutely awesome. The company were extremely professional and thorough. The crew left the yard spotlessly clean at the end of each day. It was a very positive and hassle-free experience.

Getting your roof done is no small matter. Turnbull Roofing sure made this as simple as possible. Many houses in my neighborhood had Turnbull signs so I decided to give them a call. Booking an appointment was easy and they were available to come out within a couple days for my quote. Robert, a Turnbull representative was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable about the entire roofing process. He answered all my questions and even offered more info than I would have even thought to ask about. After comparing quotes, product and warranty I decided to go with Turnbull Roofing. I was able to schedule a date that was to my convenience. The week of, I was contacted by Robert ahead of time to confirm that the scheduled date and time was still a go ahead. My roof was done in a timely manor and there was no mess left behind. My roof looks amazing and now I can breath easy that my house is well protected from the winter that's to come. Definitely happy with my decision to go with Turnbull Roofing.

It was time for a new roof and we knew we wanted the job done right, by a reputable company and some "peace -of -mind" in case anything were to happen in the future. We wanted quality products, not just something that was cheap and looked good on day one. We looked at 4-5 companies and even considered a steel roof, but in the end chose Turnbull to provide us with what we needed and wanted. The quote and sales process was easy, low pressure and informative. They took time to answer all our questions and provide recommendations based on best practice and definitely not aimed at padding the invoice. They even talked us out of a few things, while still ensuring we had a great quality roof that will hopefully stand the test of time ...and a warranty to back it up just in case.

No one and no company is perfect and our overall experience certainly did not go without a few hiccups. The original date we had booked was bumped(no big deal) as they were behind on other jobs(not due to weather, it was a beautiful day) but would have been helpful to know before the morning of the installation. The Turnbull team apologized for the communication oversight and we were rebooked for the next week. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great that day and the team was only able to complete about half the job and needed to return the following day. The next day was perfect and they finished up about 3pm in the afternoon. The roof looked great, but upon further close inspection, there were a few issues that needed a final visit to finish up and correct.

1. The site cleanup was ok, but not great. We have a lot of gardens around the house and a lot of mulch and required a more thorough cleaning of the gutters and area around the house to get most of the debris and nails cleaned up.

2. The Turnbull teamed had also missed roofing one of the roof "returns" (small area of the eaves at the roof edge the turns back), so they came back to complete that.

3. Finally, we had had them install 2 bathroom vents ( for future use) and upon inspecting the attic, found that one had been installed right over a roof truss, thus making it unusable. This is an honest mistake when cutting the vent hole, but continuing to install the vent in an unusable location and "cover it up" in hopes that we would not notice for some time was quite disappointing.

However, when we informed the Turnbull team of these deficiencies, they were quick to act, apologize and take complete ownership of the problems. They were back THE VERY NEXT DAY to completely remove, repair and reinstall the affected vent roof section, underlayment and shingles (would have been easy to just cut in a new roof vent and leave the incorrectly installed one), thoroughly clean around the house and roof (haven't found another nail since!) and complete the final roofing of the "Return" area.

People and companies make mistakes and miss things. Nothing is ever "perfect". But having a company that takes pride in their work and to make it right when things do go wrong, makes all the difference. They didn't try to make excuses or demand immediate full payments. They owned the problems, apologized and fixed it until we were satisfied This is what we paid for! A company that stands behind its work and its performance!

The roof looks great and my family and I have confidence that we've selected great products and great installers to keep us safe and dry for years to come.

Lessons learned:

1. Choose a reputable company and good quality products for the important things. Cheap-out when you'd rather "hope" it lasts or can easily buy another one.
2. Paying more doesn't mean that you've paid too much.
3. It's your house so be a part of the process, educate yourself, check the work to make sure you are happy and always ask questions.

I have the utmost praise for the Turnbull team and Chris Jones in particular as he was very professional and patient explaining the various aspects of the job and the products they carried, he was very friendly and took time to explain all the materials and the Turnbull customer support philosophy, we felt very comfortable with the company, Chris and, subsequently, the installers, especially when this purchase is a major investment. The installers arrived when they were supposed to, they were very respectful, courteous and enthusiastic, they finished the job in two days and had everything cleaned up with virtually no missed nails or those annoying clear strips from the shingles. You can feel at ease when dealing with Turnbull and their team as they take the time and make you feel like you are a valued customer. Turnbull Roofing was recommended to us by our daughter who had had her home re-roofed previously. Throughout the process of estimating the cost, explaining the process, choosing shingles, arranging the date, and finalizing the deal, Robert was very professional, personal and helpful. The crew who came to do the job were friendly, answered our questions, and finished it on time, including a careful cleanup. Our outdoor furniture was put back where it began, and our deck was left more tidy than when they started.

I chose Turnbull because my neighbour used them and was satisfied with their work. Steve was professional and answered all my questions. His quote was higher but comparable to other companies. Steve was very pleasant to work with and accommodated my needs to have the work done quickly. His crew worked for one day but needed to return the next morning with more supplies to finish the job. There was a little mess left on the window sills, skylights and grass from the falling shingles--all in all I would recommend Turnbull for your roofing
needs but the true test comes with the service you receive afterwards.

After obtaining quotes from 5 companies I chose Turnbull because their rep gave a very professional explanation of what materials and techniques they use when roofing. In addition they were recommended to us by friends in Ajax. The install was clean and on time. The new roof looks great!
