We had originally contacted Steve of BBW ( Blackforest Woodworkings) to re do the mantle of the standard fireplace provided by the builder.
After an email and voice message, got a response on the same day by Steve and arranged a time for a visit. After I explained to him what I wanted, he gave his honest professional opinion that it would be too costly and wouldn't look good. So I gave up on the fireplace idea. But since he was already here, I asked him what to do with two art niches that have been kind of an eye sore for a while.
So he immediately suggested to create some built in shelves and showed me some examples of past works and gave a quote.
All the work was done as promised and the shelves look awesome.
Steve and his buddy were very professional. neat and finished on time. I would definitely recommend them and surely will call them again for future work.

Steven worked with us through the planning process to the smallest detail after installation. He provides excellent input on what he believes is needed and tailors it to what you want. He is good to work with, dependable and trustworthy. We will use him again for future projects.

Very satisfied with these cabinets. Steven was very helpful and flexible in tweaking our design to our strange space and needs (including a crazy idea about angled shoe cabinets that ended up working out great). Our new fireplace (mantel & granite) is perfect. We use every excuse to go into the room to admire it and we show it off shamelessly to all visitors. They all love it too. I knew I needed custom cabinetry work done but was intimidated by sourcing out the jobs I needed. Steven's reviews here were great but the work I needed seemed small in comparison to what I saw. In a small house in Toronto, storage is at a premium and I had 3 different small areas to address. I am VERY happy with Black Forest's work. On time. On budget (competitive). Precise work done off-site and diligent fitting installation. VERY clean work. Black Forest took the time to protect all floors they needed to go about to do their work, sawed outside for minimum dust inside, and left everything perfectly fitted and clean. I didn't even have to touch-up paint after install, even in very fitted spaces. And 2 pieces were going up black walls of all things! I was amazed. A small wipe down and that was it!
Stephen took time to listen to my ideas and made his professional suggestions which improved on what I was thinking.
I will recommend Steven and Black Forest to friends and family every chance I get.

Steven recently designed and installed a wall of built-ins in our dining room. We are absolutely thrilled with the work. The cabinetry was exactly what we wanted – the craftsmanship is great, the cost was reasonable, the installation was quick and tidy, and he and his colleague even installed them ahead of schedule. Steven said halfway through the installation (when I mentioned how great they looked) that when he was finished, we'd be even more pleased, and he was right. I had high expectations and he exceeded them. I would recommend Black Forest or hire them again in a second. Thank you!

We called Steven to give us a quote for an entertainment unit for a large empty wall in our condominium. He came promptly, took the measurements and gave us a price. We contracted with him right away. Not because of the price, but rather because of the confidence he instilled. He gave us a time frame and true to his word, he called just before his projected date to inform that the project was completed. A date for installation was agreed upon.
Steven arrived on time (this was important as we had to book the elevator in our condo). He and his assistant spent the day installing the unit. They did an amazing job. After installation, the entire area was cleaned up and it was as if no one had been in but a beautiful entertainment unit was left behind. I absolutely love it!!
