Where do I start. Was so excited to buy a Homes by Avi spec home, looked beautiful and was excited on this journey as a first time home buyer. Lets start, they do NOT disclose anything, unless you do your research and know what questions to ask, they will not tell you anything. This is their sales tactic. Be warned, they fit electric water tanks (not disclosed unless you read every single document, then you will find it but they certainly do not tell you), this is a cost saving on their part as electric tanks are cheaper. They sales staff do not always tell the truth or mis-communicate things. We were told by a sales staff member that a reason they changed out their windows from a 2 story (18ft drop) pane of glass to divided glass was that 'it looked to grand among the other houses', of course, found this was untrue! Upon pre-inspection of the new home, we found out that our shower glass was too short for my 6ft1" fiance and the tiling was messy and not flush to the shower glass cubicle. We were told that this was a standard shower height (it does have a frame) and that the showroom was an upgrade - again, if this is true, not disclosed, not in any of our documents stating the size or anything as 'standard'. The Selections Centre Manager tried to tell us that the standard size they fit of shower glass is 5ft5" to 5ft8" which is ridiculous!!! That is not a standard size, she also went on to explain and send photos of what we shower height we had, it certainly was not and my fiance would take off his head just trying to get in the shower!! They tried to charge us for this, as they kept saying it was an "upgrade". We argued it out and after them trying to intimidate us to get us to back down, they agreed and absorbed the cost themselves!! This should have been done without the battle. They had over two weeks to do it and ensured us it would be done before possession. It wasn't so had to chase them up to make sure it would be done. Tried calling the General Manager but he appeared to hang up midst conversation and never responded to voice mails, we showed up at the Avi offices as that was the only way to make sure we could deal with someone. It was eventually done the day after possession! Now we have issues with our balcony door with water pooling in as there is no proper seal on it and it isn't flush to the frame, or driveway is eroding and the concrete under the steps are eroding, we had a crack in our basement wall that was leaking in water we found on moving day, that has been filled but it is an issue that shouldn't have happened. I understand settling cracks in the concrete floor, but the foundation wall!! Its been an endless battle and that is just after 3 weeks of moving in. I dread to think what I will find wrong next!! Do not build with them, they unprofessional approach, bad product and attitude of using intimidation and trying to make people give up is appalling for a company of this size!! Never ever again would I use or recommend this company!!!
