Jay n Son Landscaping

When we hired this Echo Contracting aka Jay N Son Landscaping in 2009, we pretty much had all the problems mentioned in the last 3 reviews. And worse than others' bad experiences, this general landscaper, Marcie, didn't pay her fence guy after she got total $17,000 full payment from us and now this fence guy fired a lien to our property. We know we were not supposed to give her the 2nd 50% payment before she finished the jobs, but we were fooled by her. She promised she would come back to finish the jobs, but she took off instead and even disabled her phone #. Really a lesson learned. I post my experience here and hope no more people by this landscaping company/person.

We want to ask you for some important information about the fence because our next step is to bring her to court to remove the lien from our property. Please contact me, very appreciate it!

I would not ever recommend this company to ANYONE! Please believe the on-line reviews; I wish I had. Jay 'n Sons makes themselves sound really good when you first talk to them and they are great at explaining away any negative reviews. However, the bottom line is that most of what was said to me were untruths. I often caught the lady I communicated with in mistruths to which she had no retort. Many excuses delayed the project to the point where I did not get ONE shrub that I was promised and that I paid for. Jay 'n' Sons put in the wrong tree, had to dig it out and plant another one. THIS EXPERIENCE WAS A GONG SHOW!. The straw that broke the camel's back was when one of the companies Jay 'n' Sons deals with came to my door to collect money for materials Jay n' Sons used on my place but apparently didn't pay for. Thankfully, Jay 'n'Sons solved that issue. However, that incident was just one of the many unpleasantries endured with this company. You don't know me and I don't know you but, trust me. Don't do it; use a different landscaper. The job got completed but the weeks of headache and tears and frustration was NOT worth it.

Jay N Sons Landscaping is full of unfulfilled promises!! We also were asked to give a 50% deposit "made payable to Echo". After WEEKS of excuses from the owners and being told that our landscaping would be done the next day, it finally was finished. We gave specific instructions that our front tree needed to be a certain size inorder to get our landscaping deposit back from our builder & they went & planted a too small of tree which caused us to fail our landscaping inspection. They said they would come back & fix it & now they won't return our calls!!! We are now stuck with a too small of tree that looks dead which we will have to replace ourselves in order to get our landscaping deposit back from the builder. If you want to avoid many headaches, don't bother wasting your time and money on Jay N Sons Landscaping!!

We hired Jay n son on April 15th and we had a deadline of June 13th. Repeatedly, we were given timelines and people would not show up. We got excuse after excuse. That was when we could get a hold of them. A lot of the time we would get a cell and the voice mail was full. We would ask them to call our cells concerning the job and they would leave a message on the home phone, trying to avoid us. The entire time that they had the contract they completed 2 days of work, completing the fence that they had to build and drilling holes for piles which they did not fill. Here we are at the end of July, facing fines for the job not being completed in time for the city and the HOA. It is July and we do not have the yard done as planned and we have big holes in our back yard and a fence. We had to fire them and seek someone to finish the job during the busiest time of year, which was next to impossible.

They requested money upfront (50%) for the job. We paid the deposit understanding that they had to pay for materials. Thankfully they completed the fence at least that covered the cost of the deposit. I do not recommend that anyone hire this company or Echo Contracting which is the "people to make the cheque to." Please steer clear of this company so that this does not happen to you. Lesson learned.
