Total Basement Finishing Of Ontario

Total Basement Finishing of Ontario (TBF of Ontario) recently completed a basement renovation for us. The project plan and design was put into place by Ivan Whitaker. We began with a 'wish list' for Ivan and he proposed a design for the basement that used our space very efficiently and was able to deliver all the items on our list, including a few extra creative ideas, and kept exactly within our initial budget. The crew that worked on our basement was led by Keith Loveless and Efrain Jacome. We made it clear from the start that we had high expectations for quality and the crew exceeded those expectations. Both Keith and Efrain are highly skilled professionals and worked with great attention to detail. It was great to see they always showed personal pride in their work. At the end of each day the work area would be cleaned up (tools put away, floor swept, etc.) to make it easier for us to inspect the progress each night when we got home from work. They were also friendly and helpful if we had any questions.
The complete project was multi-stage and quite involved. The first task was to completely water proof the basement before putting any walls up. Ivan coordinated the installation of a complete waterguard system by Clarke Basement Systems (TBF of Ontario affiliated company). The waterguard install included protecting all exterior walls from moisture and they also replaced and relocated our sump pump. Once the waterguard system was in, the basement finishing began. The finished project included a new bathroom, a laundry room, a wet bar, gas fireplace, storage closet under the stairs, in-wall media shelves (home theatre components), sound proofing ceiling and walls, a play area for our kids, and a closed off workshop/storage area at the back of the basement. The design layout, finishing products (flooring, tiles, etc.), and colour scheme was conceptualized by Ivan and we just had to make a few decisions for it to suit our personal taste.
This was a big project for us and its one that you only want to do once, so naturally we were nervous at the beginning about what the finished product will be like and how much over budget the final cost will add up to. We are very happy with the finished product, it really is very high quality work and our final bill matched exactly with the original quote we were given. Our finished basement has transformed our home and we'd like to thank Ivan, Keith, and Efrain for all their hard work.

TBF exceeded my expectations.

It all started after we visited the web site. I was curious about the different materials that they use for the walls. After a short conversation, they scheduled an initial survey of my basement. Before they visited me, they sent a very informative book about the do's and dont's of finishing a basement in the mail. No other company that we contacted did this. Ivan arrived promptly and conducted the initial assessment and provided a budgetary quotation on the spot. We agreed on a price and a start date. Ivan's crew showed up exactly at 8:00AM on the scheduled start date ready to go.

Ivan's crew was knowledgable, courteous, prompt and respectful from day one. I never had an issue with anyone of them at all. In fact on a few occasions they did more than they were supposed to. Every morning they showed up at 8:00AM and left at around 5:00PM. Closer to the end they started to stay later until about 7:00PM to finish the job by the deadline.

The project took approximately 3 1/2 weeks to complete with a few delays. On a few occasions Ivan himself was working hard to complete the job.

I can see from this experience that its not just a job with them. They are highly dedicated to their trade and I can honestly say that they treated my house as if it were their own.

Even 2 weeks after the completion of the project, Ivan came by for a quick check and noticed some few minor issues. He organized for the guys to come by and sort them out immediately.

I am very impressed with TBF's customer service and their dedication to their work. It made for a very painless and stress free experience.

I looked into many contractors and TBF was definitely standing out. They do all the work themselves. The general contractor (Ivan Whittaker) will be responsible for everything: from 3D conceptual design to the last doorknob.
Ivan is a talented interior designer and will guide you through the process with lots of tips and recommendations. He is a great listener and your wishes will be heard and implemented the way you like it.
The business is exceptionally well organized. Crew was always on schedule, respecting my family and home, leaving all neat and tidy. The price was not altered once and I got few things over and above.
