My family has used Firemen Movers for our last 3 moves. The first two moves were great but unfortunately this last move left us with damaged furniture and quite a bit of damage to our newly built home. In dealing with the owner they were not willing to reimburse any portion of the cost of the move or our storage fees. We've given this company thousands of dollars over the years and were not satisfied with their response to our concerns. In the end the owner offered us less than $400 for the damage- a fraction of what it has cost us to repair the damage. In addition I was told there was no way the damage to our home was caused by the move, my claims dismissed and was told the company should not have to pay to fix issues in my home. The home was newly built with no issues until moving day. I've spoken to other repeat customers who also feel the level of care has gone down hill over the years. Please do yourself a favour and purchase insurance for your move.

Company Response

I would like to start by saying thank you to this client for their repeat business. We very much appreciate it. When we were informed of a damage issue with this client, I personally went to their new home to inspect it. They showed me the issues with some furniture pieces and I immediately said we would reimburse them for what it would cost to repair the minor issues. The client said they had already put it through their home insurance, so I said I would still reimburse them the amount it would have cost us. I was then shown the stairwell to the basement which had multiple holes and dents on almost every tread. The client believed it was our appliance dollie that did this and I tried to explain that it was physically impossible for the dollie to do that as the wheels would be on the outside of the treads and the damage was in the center of the treads. I then took pictures and showed them to a hardwood floor repair person who immediately pointed out that all of the damaged areas had wood stain in them, which means it was done before the staircase was stained. It would require a deep sanding of the whole staircase to repair. There were no fresh wood scratches on the staircase to the basement and not a single scratch on the staircase to the second floor. I tried to explain that we can't be responsible for construction damage. I still offered to pay for the minor damage to the furniture but that was later rejected as well. We're sorry there was any damage at all, we do pride ourselves on treating all of our clients fairly and we believe we did so in this case. We believe in learning from every situation, good or bad, and we strive to get better every day. We think this is reflected in our online reviews and our many repeat clients. We would like to again say thanks for this client's repeat business and we wish them nothing but the best in their new home.
