This company provided excellent installation service, from the type of roof tile suggested to the professional workmanship which has added value and curb appeal to our house. I have no doubt Academia Roofing will be in the business for many years to come.

I would like to thank Gordon Bailey of Academia roofing for his quick and excellent service in regards to the roof repair needed. During a wind storm a few shingles had blown off the roof, which needed to be repaired before a rain storm. I had contacted a few roofing companies and Gordon of Academia roofing was the only one to return my call. Thanks to his quick actions the problem was resolved. Therefore I highly recommend this company for any roofing job.

We recently moved into a 100+ year old house which, to our surprise, had a leak on the top floor within the first month of us arriving. The previous owners had stated that part of the roof was new, but there were obviously some flaws in its construction. And to complicate things further, it is a flat roof, which can be far more difficult to build/maintain/repair. I called Academia mainly because of their prior excellent reviews, and I was not disappointed. Gordon explained the detailed process of fixing roofs over the phone, while Joe was up on the roof spending the afternoon repairing the suspect area with a large patch and then meticulously redoing each edge until he felt it was complete. Joe is obviously an expert at this. The repair LOOKED seamless, but the real test was to see what happened during the first rain. Luckily for us there was a windy night with heavy rains not more than 2 days later. This type of rain would normally have accumulated 2-3" of rain in the buckets that we used to keep the floors relatively dry. But after Joe's repair ... not a single drop! We were thrilled. It has been a few weeks now, and after multiple rainy days, I am very pleased to see that the repair is still keeping the 3rd floor as dry as a bone. We will eventually have to replace the entire roof - at which point Academia Roofing will be called again. Until then, I sincerely thank Gordon and Joe for their skills, knowledge and insight - after all the horror roofing stories I've read on Homestars, I can see why they continually get great reviews and end up with satisfied customers.

In 2006 racoons had damaged our 3rd floor roof deck and entered the attic space for the winter. It was decided to re-roof the deck and place heavy mats that racoons couldn't move. Gordon Bailey was very helpful in his explanation of the work to be done and we have had no further problems as a result. The workers were polite and efficient and left the area clean when they were finished

A bunch of shingles blew off of my roof in a wind storm. I called a few roofing companies for estimates - Academia Roofing was one of them. I spoke with Gordon and he was very nice and very knowledgeable. He came out to my house the same day to take a look at the damage and the repair was done very quickly thereafter. I am a single mom and don't have much extra money. I appreciated that Gordon was willing to accept payment arrangements that fit my budget. I would recommend this company for sure. I was very impressed with Gordon and the job that was done.

I first met Academia roofing when I was home undergoing chemotherapy. We had decided to have our master bathroom enlarged by combining the existing bathroom with the adjoining closet and putting a new closet in an attic area over our garage. This involved some work on the roof and that is where Academia roofing enters the story. When they went into the attic to have a look there were waterfalls of ice on the attic walls. This was a big problem!

Gord and his team explained what the problem was and completely fixed it. New vents, opening up the eaves brand new insulation and a new roof and skylight as well as new soffit, facia and eaves troughs were done. This was handled very professionally. The work was excellent. They came when they said they were going to, it was always neat and cleaned up after they were done at the end of the day. When you are doing renovation work I cannot emphasize how important this is as the chaos spreads and is very stressful.

When the contractor for the bathroom ran into trouble with the closet Gord came to the rescue and pitched in and helped him out, doing most of the work on the closet himself. Well above and beyond anything he was responsible for. I'm not sure the bathroom renovation would have been completed without him. I cannot tell you how much we appreciated this.

During this time he also met my son with the size 15 feet. Gord found, at a flea market and bought for him, a beautiful pair of cowboy boots in his size. He also gave him and my husband matching leather baseball caps.

But the story does not end there. Five years after installing the skylight we noticed drips of water on the stairs underneath the skylight. One call to Gord and he was right on it. He had the manufacturer over and had the problem fixed immediately, with no charge to us.

Gord and his crew do excellent work. He stands behind the jobs that he does and goes beyond the call of duty. I would highly recommend him for any roofing or renovations that you need to have done.

I first encountered Academia on a Sunday morning when Gordon Bailey came to my house and inspected and dealt with snow and ice damage to my roof. Their work is not inexpensive but it is top quality. They take the time to explain ahead of time everything that needs to be done. Language of the roofers is not offensive, as can be the case with roofing companies and clean up is fantastic. My wife and I were very pleased with the overall quality and would highly recommend.

We hired Gord to restore our deck and porch back to its historical roots. We paid a 50% discount and paitently waited for the project to begin.We waited for a period of time within which most people would have gone to court, but instead kept our faith in Gord knowing that once he got over the medical issues, staffing problems, and several cynical phone calls from us, he would make good on his word, or at least the signed contract.

When the time finally came, Gord sent his top guy, Joe, to do the deck floors, a neighbour to organise the backyard to become workspace (my backyard has never looked cleaner nor more organised, this guy left me speechless), hired a fantastic carpenter whose skill and talent were outdone only by his unquestionnable work ethic!

At the end of the day, we now have a porch and 2 decks that make our home the most historically beautiful house on the street!! (Once the garden gets straightened out, it will be even better!). He finished well on this project.

The most important thing for us however, is that Gord did not run away with our money, he absorbed and digested our anger about all the delays, and went out of his way to make amends.

He knows his stuff, and that's why even after all the delays with our home porch/deck project, I hired him to do the repairs to the roof of one of my investment properties.

He's not cheap, but because he knows his stuff and he has Joe, my husband and I are sticking with Academia to replace the entire roof system at our home, for the spring of 2012.

I can tell you that he isn't greedy, because I recently consulted with, and asked him to evaluate two quotes for a roofing job in Hamilton, and rather than stepping in to do it, he was honest enough to say he is not licensed to work there, but went out anyway to assess the situation in order to give me a professional opinion of what was needed, in order for me not to be duped by other companies.

Academia is "old school"--honest and knowledgeable, excellent value for the money.

I won't thank him here, not yet, since my home roof is still on the docket, but I am looking forward to a solid roof, and that new skylight for my artisan room/office!

After all this, YES, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!

Our painter referred us to Gordon because he noticed some wet bricks under our balcony. For many years we've noticed water collecting. We had 4 contractors come to try to fix the problem, all unsuccessfully. When Gordon came, he quickly assessed the problem. and applied a temporary fix to get us through the winter, which has worked. He saved us having a much more serious problem, and he definitely knows his work. He came when he said he would, and called to check in to make sure everything was holding up. I feel lucky that we were referred to Gordon, and have confidence that he will be able to fix our problem permanently.

Shortly after the construction of our new home we began experiencing some water damage issues. Our contractor and roofer were unable to resolve the issues properly so we retained Academia Roofing to assist us. They were nothing short of amazing. They were able to identify numerous issues others did not mention at all and provide comprehensive input on how to remedy our issues.
