This is a long overdue review, but I wanted to wait to see how the roof handled over the past few seasons. All I can say is that it's still perfect.

When I first called Gord for an estimate back in the summer of 2012, he was the ONLY person who actually took the time to go up into the attic and see if a) there was adequate venting, and b) if there was adequate insulation. Much to his, and my surprise, while up there, he found out that the contractors who added the garage onto the house actually just built a roof on top of the old roof, thereby totally screwing up the venting and adding extra work to the job.

In the end, Gord's estimate was one of the higher ones, but in my gut, I knew he was the right guy for the job. The roofing industry can be a real headache for an average homeowner to navigate, with estimates varying by thousands for what seems like the same thing. Gord took the time to explain that his company doesn't take shortcuts, and the products he uses are basically the best. This was actually confirmed by a neighbour's family member (who is also in the roofing business) when they said to my neighbour - "you know, those are the best vents you can buy". That was all the confirmation I needed that I had made the right choice.

Gord, Joe and the rest of his crew actually care about doing a good job and it shows. If you want a cheap roof to flip the house, don't call Academia. But if you want a roof for your house that's going to outlast you, don't hesitate to give them a call. They were punctual, clean and professional.

Our first encounter with Academia was wasking up to find ater in our bathroom floor after a severe rainstorm. Academia was the only company that answered my call, provided advice in what to do until they arrived, and said they would come that day to take a look. Joe came and the leak was a result of some shingles having blown away. While he was here, my husband and he went in the attic to make sure everything looked ok. Joe mentioned that the venting should be looked at as they could feel significant temperature fluctuations.

Gord came down to take a look and provide an estimate. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. He also provided the name of a recent client who had similar work done so we could find out what their experience was like. We decided to get the work completed. Joe and another gentleman came by to conduct the work which had the interior work completed in a day. They came back to finish some exterior work and at our request, help change some exterior potlights as our ladder couldn't reach the roof line. The guys were friendly and left things neat and tidy. Overall, we are happy with the work completed.

Two years ago we had a very bad leakage problem at my home. Gordon Bailey was the only one who diagnosed the problem properly. He and his team did a great job restoring my roof and attic. We have had many ice ,snow and rain storms in the last two years and no leakage from our roof! Gordon was a pleasure to deal with and his follow up has been excellent.

Gord completely restored our very complicated 100 year old roof and attic. His estimate was accurate, his crew was courteous, the work was impeccable. Our experience with Academia Roofing could not have been better and I would whole heartedly recommend them.

Due to improper insulation and ventilation (which also resulted in mould) we had condensation weeping in our home. After several other companies quoted for new shingles and eavestrough, Gord at Academia indentified the whole scope of the problem and created a workplan to remedy the situation. We had a second opinion on the plan as presented and it was confirmed the plan as outlined would solve our issues, so the job was awarded to Academia. The team lead by Joe worked tirelessly over the hot summer. They were thoughtful and accommodating, working around people and events and cleaned up keeping our property and safety in the forefront. We also had some structure improvements completed by the team and were very satisfied that it was done keeping the esthetics of your home in mind.
And on the last day of the job Joe stated late into the night/dark cleaning up to ensure that first light presented our home in the most favourable light and for that we were very grateful. Thanks Academia!

Academia was not the cheapest quote but I felt they gave superior service and a thoughtful careful approach to the project that will make it last much longer. Cleanup and little extras were done well with no damage to shrubs etc. Gord followed up a year later to make sure there were no problems.

The entire roof in our home needed replacing.
We began our research for reputable roofing companies. A few high end companies were invited to give estimates. I continued to research until I came across Academia Roofing and Attics via HomeStars. I called Gordon Bailey, the owner and discussed our problem. He visited the site and, in a few days gave us an estimate. I also found out that this company did jobs for colleagues of mine. Although his estimate exceeded all the other quotes we hired them for the job.
Gordon Bailey was very knowledgeable and thorough in discussing in detail the work involved from stripping the plywood, to insulation, etc. No details were overlooked. .Joe headed the project. I cannot say enough good things about Joe and the fine work that he does. They were at the site each day until the work was completed. At the end of the day they cleaned up the site. The crew were very courteous and respectful.
We are very happy with the work and will hire them again to do other work.

Great job. I got a quote from a number of different folks and this undoubtedly was a good decision made as service and price were very fair. Would definitely hire again anytime.

Called Gordon when the insulation guy found the roof leaking. Joe arrived in time and got the leaking area fixed in one hour. The fix is professional and I got the life time guarantee.

Couple of days later, when the insulation guy resumed the work in a heavy rain, they reported more leaking area around plumbing pipe. Called Gordon again and he came on site during the long weekend. Gordon spent around one hour on the roof, checked the roof carefully and fixed all the defective area on the roof, which could lead to potential leaking. As I expected, those are cost free as it is the warranty they promised.

Over all, I am very satisfied with the service Gordon and his team provided. We might be able to find cheap quote by shopping arround, but choose Gordon's team, we will get what we paid for.
