Home Inspection

I called Tony to arrange for a home inspection. He was too busy thus he sent his partner Russell to do the work. Initially, there was a bit delay for me to get a detailed report from Russell. Tony got involved and coordinated everything. He apologized for the delay and promised to issue a full refund. Even though Tony did not perform the work, he handled things in a professional and timely manner.

Home Inspection

I called Tony to arrange for a home inspection because of a water leak issue in my master bedroom bathroom. I picked Tony after seeing the “good” reviews on Homestar. However, after the home inspection I have to say I am very DISAPPOINTED at the service Tony and his partner Russell provided.

Tony did not perform the inspection himself, instead he sent his partner Russell to do the work. Both of them explained they work together. Tony told me Russell has sufficient training and education to perform a home inspection, so I accepted. Russell called to arrange the inspection to be 6pm. I was concerned because normally inspection runs for 4-5 hours. It will get dark and too late. However, he explained it is a better time to test the moisture issue for the leak. So I accepted.

Late on the day of inspection: Russell and Tony both confirmed in advance that the inspection will start at 6pm on Friday afternoon. However, Russell arrived 30 minutes late. He explained it was due to traffic. I accepted his apology.

Throughout the inspection, Russell identified the problems verbally. The inspection ran from 6:45 to 11:30 for 5 hours. Most of time was spent on testing the moisture level for the bathroom and ceiling, which was the main reason why I got the inspection done. However, it also included time spent on completing a CHECKLIST INSPECTION REPORT and signing all the papers. Throughout the inspection, Russell answered a few calls and appeared a bit rushed towards the end as it was late at night.

At the end of the inspection, Russell promised to send a list of contacts next day to allow me find a person to fix the water leak. He also promised there would be a detailed report with pictures and explanations in 2-3 days for what I need to do to fix the issues.

Russell asked me to sign a satisfaction statement stating I am satisfied with the inspection. I signed because at the time, he did answer my questions VERBALLY, also gave me a checklist report with one sentence at the end to explain the issue. He also promised there will be a detailed report late on.

However after a week, I did not receive any reports with pictures. I followed up with text message. Russell said again he will have the report send out soon. Days later I still didn’t not receive anything. Then I followed up with another two text messages, but he did not reply. I am getting a bit impatient and called Russell, he said the report isn’t ready and he also got his contact to call me, but they got the WRONG number. And He does not have any more time to spend with me and then hang up.

The total I spent on this inspection was $423.75 including tax. All I got was a CHECKLIST report with one sentence explanation. I have given my understanding for Russell being late, rushed and delay for sending out a detailed report. However, I did not get equal treatment. I have learned my lesson and would not recommend this inspector to anyone.
