MMT Waterproofing

A corner of our basement had water seeping in due to a crack in the foundation. I put this off longer than I should have because I knew the research wouldn’t be easy. I read dozens of reviews on HomeStars before settling on nine companies. Only four called back. I had two estimates booked, and both reps from each company arrived on time.

We decided we needed a third estimate and called Mario. I was surprised when Mario answered the phone. I had to leave messages for the other companies, and wait for a call back to book an appointment. Many times, I had to follow up because no one called me back.

Mario came the next day and he was on time. He explained everything in detail and provided us with two viable options. The work could be done externally or internally. After weighing the pros and cons, we chose to fix the issue internally. The project would include internal waterproofing on our foundation, and installation of a new drainpipe.

We already had major renovations completed, and our biggest concerns were any damage to our new hardwood floors, walls or doors. Mario assured us his team would take all necessary precautions. His company is family owned, so he explained that he or a member of his family would always be onsite.

We were still feeling anxious about the project and Mario said he would be at the job site himself to supervise. Five days before the project, Mario texted me to confirm. On the day of, Mario and two of his team members, Tom and Bogdan showed up on time. They worked efficiently and always took care of our home when they had to go in/out. It was a lot of work, and they only took one short break for lunch.

Mario was true to his word and stayed on site, making calls from his truck, and always within an arm’s reach if his team or we needed him. He only left once to pick up some materials his team needed. We were surprised when the project was completed six hours later. Mario inspected the work and we had a short discussion before he left. There was a lot of mud and debris left from the project, but when I went downstairs, Tom and Bogdan had cleaned everything up! We were very pleased with the work!

We had some other issues outside with our landscaping, downspouts and asphalt driveway. We asked Mario for some referrals. He said he rarely refers even though he is confident, because if we happen to be one out of a hundred with a negative experience, it would look bad on him and may damage our relationship. I have never heard anyone explain it this way, and it really goes to show how caring and thoughtful Mario is. We said we would take our chances, and he provided us with three referrals. Mario said he would even come back to help if needed.

Mario came to our house to gave us a quote to deal with basement leakage.
He gave us all the possible options (interior or exterior water proofing) with detailed explanations. Mario and his crew always arrived on time, finished the work within 3 days as promised, and spend extra time to grade soil and put back gravels on properly.
Mario sent me pictures of the site to explain what was done that day and the crew cleaned up all their mess each time as well.

Water was sipping through basement wall. Mario and his team did a great job in providing an assessment and fixing the exterior foundation wall. Work was done professionally and in a timely manner.

Mario from MMT came to assess my sump pump which was not working properly. He took the time to get an overall picture of the situation including all the adjacent sewer pipes and found another important issue that was not noted by our home inspector. He answered all my questions and was very approachable. He came back to install a good quality pump and made sure everything was working properly. Found out that I had a foundation seepage leak in the basement.

Filed a request with Homestars, was the 1st to come and assessed/provided an reasonable estimate. Discussed more throughly then the other companies I received estimates for in person.

Had MMT come and perform the waterproofing of the exterior over 50 ft work. Work performed to the estimate cost and almost to schedule (2 vs 3 days) on site. Cracks and tree roots in weeping tile.

Scope of work entailed removal of concrete, excavation, cleaning, patching, coating, membrane, mesh, gravel etc. One free regrading and 25 year warranty.

Provided some photos during of work and findings. Wrote up an assessment for the city of the findings.

Upon work completion came and spoke about the work, findings and made suggestions of other issues/potential issues in regards to the waterproofing of the house. Also was able to communicate with Mario outside of regular business hours during and post work.

I am satisfied so far with the work done and service provided. And if I am thinking of waterproofing the other sections of the house, I would likely reach out to MMT again.

MMT Waterproofing did an excellent job and we highly recommend this company. We hired them on a referral, so their reputation preceded them, but we were still totally impressed. It was a big job for us, but we never had any doubts. Mario and his team were very knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. They were here when they said they'd be here, worked long hours, efficiently, and finished quickly. They did exterior waterproofing but explained all of our options to us. We had a unique situation because of an addition, and they dug under our deck to see the foundations first, to see our options, then found a solution for us. They reinstated everything perfectly and cleaned up after. Mario came himself after to show us how the sump pump worked. He was always attentive and easily reachable. Crew very capable. Thank you! This gave us confidence and peace of mind and fixed a long term problem for the house.

Mario and his team did s great job diagnosing the situation with my basement crack, explaining what was happening and exactly how it would be fixed. The communication was excellent leading up to and throughout the job and they checked afterwards to ensure we were happy.
