Desi Movers

My wife and I had hired Desi movers to move from a condo to another, and it was a nightmare. These guys gave us a quote of $47 per hour. But when they showed up to move they said they needed a deposit of $300 in cash. We protested but they said that this was a "mandatory" charge and they had just forgotten to tell us about it. Further after they loaded our belongings in their truck, they asked for $500 more, saying that it was for condo insurance. We said we needed no insurance, but they pressured us into paying, saying that any remaining amount will be refunded. At this point all of our stuff was already in their truck, and we ended up believing them. After paying $500, they again called up their boss who said they needed to be paid $200 more. At this point, we realized that they were a bunch of crooks. But we could not take any action against them, as we stupidly had agreed to paying them cash, instead of paying them by credit card or cheque.

Desi movers not only ruined my day but my bank account. I was quoted 40/hr over the phone. When they got there they said they needed a 400$ deposit. Which is understandable, but when they got all my stuff in the truck they said I had an outstanding 550+ on the bill. If I did not pay the amount they would not deliver my belongings. Included in the fees were traveling cost of 40$ and a kilometers cost which was 30$, even though I was quoted one hour for travel time. They also had a miscellaneous charge of 250$, they said it was because I had smaller items to move. !?!?!?!? Almost a thousand dollars for one room! Don't call them they are a scam company!!!!!!!

Never try for this movers and other one is Comfort Movers.
I found their name from Toronto Gujarati news paper.
They are not honest people. First they said total cost-200 $ for moving. Then after moving all the stuff out from house , they ask for 600 $. As you are on the road you have to pay them money.
One of my friend had bad experience with comfort Movers.
A person came on the day of moving. ask for advance 200$...then go off and never return...while calling the company we had worst responce!
After asing some othe people we found so many more bad experience with these guys.
Please never go for selecting such movers. Go for only one with good reference.

These guys are horrible. Poor customer service.

The movers showed up 2 hours late. The owner of the company did not answer my calls in the morning to find out where the movers were.

Because I had booked an elevator, and had 1 hour to go before the next guy, I had to book (and pay for) an extra mover.

Then one of the guys did absolutely nothing and was on the phone with his girlfriend. This guy had the nerve to ask me to help him get a job where I worked.

To get out of my place on time, I had to help these guys carry stuff.

Once my stuff was loaded on the truck, I was told that I would have to pay up in full before they would unload.

To top it all off, the drivers took a 90 minute lunch/nap once they got to my new place.

Stay away from these guys at all costs.
