Auto service good, but customer service poor

This store is on my way to work, but I generally do not get helpful service when I am looking for items. Sometimes staff send me to the wrong place in the store instead of asking somebody else.
However, the auto shop has better service. I had to change my windshield wiper but arrived the day computers were down. I expected to be sent away but the man at the counter offered to go and look visually for the piece. When I pulled into the garage, the manager was not happy but the salesman came out and took my windshield. he came back in 3 minutes with the right one and installed it for me. In the meantime 2 mechanics came over to ask if I needed help. After paying cash, I got into my car, and a young fellow offered to turn my car around since it was a tight spot--which I accepted. He was delighted to show his skills off, and he 10-point turn saved me a lot of turning!
So generally I go to Laird and Eglington when I need something since service is regularly better.

appliances to parts and much more

Every time I go into this Canadian Tire I always come out with what I want. The employees there are helpful and point me in the right direction. They are usually very good in answering questions and in finding that special item needed for a repair.

Staff is easy to find in that store and they give the impression they are interested in helping their customers, not like some other Can. Tires stores that just wave their arms in a vague direction when you need something.

Home appliances

I bought a four slice toaster, a hand held shower nozzle and a portable heater among other small items. They had a great sale on all the items and have knowledgeable, helpful staff; they support the community eg: donations to sports teams; the local Black Friday event. The Owner/Manager is available to talk to if need be. I highly recommend this store for most any household item you need.

Bathroom vanity and renovation supplies

I like shopping here because it's a larger store and usually has what we need. Good quality for a good price. They will honor specials in their flyer even if the sale is over by about a week. I do find this store cleaner than some of their other ones. The staff on the floor are hard to find though, and cashiers often don't know where to find certain things.

Workshop

Often, there are many good deals at Canadian Tire. I bought a pantry which was normally marked at $99.00, and I was able to get it on sale for $39.00. The reason I'm writing is that it was so coincidental as I was wishing that the pantry would go on sale, as it rare did in the past, if ever. The only thing I would like to see is that the employees at that particular store were more informative, and were easier to understand. I realize that for many, English is not their mother tongue, but please Canadian Tire, if you are going to hire people to deal with the general public, at least hire people that can understand and speak English well enough to be understood by "Joe Public". With the unemployment rate at an all time high, surely, there are more qualified people to fill these positions.

Auto Service

Yesterday I brought in my car to the Canadian Tire in Ajax to fix my car. I had indicated to them that my car had some smoke coming from underneath the roof the day before. My husband indicated it coming from a fan under the roof, in the passenger side, and on the inside of the car by the grill. We also informed CT that immediately after, the air conditioning stopped working and then the day after I noticed that the temperature guage increased to the RED line. CT informed me that they would take a look at my car and because Volkswagen was closed at the time, that they would like to keep my car overnight and talk to volkswagen and get a price on the fan.

This morning, I called Canadian Tire and unfortunately they were not ready with the quote on the car repair so they asked if they can call me back. I eventually got a call back from Canadian Tire and they informed me that the problem I had was due to the fan, serpentine belt, and thermostat needed to be changed. CT informed me that the after market fan that they have in stock only had 2 wires (or something) whereas the VW fan had 3 wires and this is what I needed for my car. Although it was $150.00 more to get the VW part, I went ahead and agreed that it was ok to get the VW fan. CT quoted me a total of $1011.00 for the following repairs:

new fan, coolant system flush, serpentine belt replaced, new thermostat, labour, and tax.

I picked up my car this afternoon and paid approx $1000.00 in cash for my car. I drove my car and within an hour or less, I saw that my temperature gauge was increasing again and that it was hitting the red line. THEY DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM!

I WAS DEVASTATED as the money that I had given to CT was the last of my savings and they had indicated that my car had been fixed. I called CT and informed them that my car and informed them that my car was still having the same problem as before. They infomred me that I should take my car back to Canadian Tire which I did. Unfortunately I had to leave my car there overnight again as all the mechanics had left for the night. I was devastated as I need my car for tomorrow to get to work and see my patients (I am a research nurse working at Sunnybrook Hospital)

A couple of months ago I went to the same Canadian Tire to have my husbands car balanced. I paid over $100.00 for the balancing but after looking at the read out on the 'before' and 'after' balancing of the wheels, there was hardly any difference. I complained that time as well about them taking my money and not having any actual work done on the car. They offered to repeat the balancing at no charge which I accepted.

But this is still unacceptable. How could they hand over the car to me, accepting payment, and not have done their part????????

Gazebo Assembly

Arranged to have my Gazebo assembled. Took over a week and a half for them to get back to me (after me calling everyday as I was not getting a response). Finally made an appointment. Guys showed up, opened the box, then dissapeared. I called Canadian Tire home services and they told me they dont manage their services. Worst service ever. Then a few days later I received a call from the manager of the installation company and he had them come back a week later. Things got better, the crew was very polite assembled my gazebo perfectly and quick. Maybe I will give them a second chance afterall.

Tire Change

Tires were changed and I was given a free inspection and informed that my battery was low and I should take my car for a long drive to charge it, and that a light needed replacing. I had an appointment at the dealer for repairs so it was really helpful to know what else needed done beforehand. The service was above what I expected and the price is is very affordable. The inspection was free of cost and a great bonus. I am glad that I chose Canadian Tire over the dealer to have my tires changed. They checked for fluid leaks, brakes, lights, alignment, rust, transmission, oil level, and windsheild washer, to name a few things. The receptionist who took my keys and order did a perfect job. Really impressed great service and team. They are very good and I will come back again when I need to get my tires changed.
