Toronto Maid Service - No Longer in Business

BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! i ordered a 4 cleaning package for $650. i was told if i didnt like the service they would refund the whole package. they had to come back 4 times for the first cleaning because the first 3 were insufficient, and the house was still not cleaned. on the second cleaning i noticed money had gone missing from the house. instead of going to court i gave them an option to refund the $650, they said they would refund $200 and i accepted. it took them 2 months to mail the check, and when i went to cash it the bank said they didnt have sufficient funds available. since then i have tried to contact them several times, and they keep saying that a manager will contact me; it has been 3 months.

picking up after the cleaning people that they send. I really wish that I had found this review before booking Toronto Maid Service. I compared prices and services and decided to go with this company over others with much more reasonable rates because I understood that they brought their own equipment and would do an intense cleaning, getting at the sorts of hardcore dirt my husband and I can't manage on our own. What an enormous scam! Incredibly deceptive advertising for what they actually provide. I understood that a team of two would be coming to work on my apartment, bringing their own equipment. Instead I get one lady who can't possibly move the furniture, fridge, stove, etc. as promised in the list of services.

The final straw, however, came when the cleaning lady turned over a bottle of prescription narcotics from the medicine cabinet and left them laying in the dirt where a child or animal could have eaten them and been poisoned. Now not only am I without painkillers for a broken arm thanks to the thoughtlessness of this woman, but I'm enraged that someone put my household in danger through such careless action. My only consolation is that I booked a one-time service, since I'd never let anyone from this agency near my apartment again.

Save your money. Or find a couple of street kids with "will work for food" signs and ask them to clean your house. You'll get a better result and more satisfying customer service!

what a waste of time! they didn't show up on the scheduled day because the cleaning lady's car broke down! 2 days later rescheduled...I'm taking a day off! and waiting for the crew to do a detailed cleaning which includes their supplies and equipment- one lady shows up 1.5hr late, with some cloths and only 4 hours availability!? does cloth= cleaning supplies and equipment? and how did they plan to get the detailed cleaning done by one person with nothing but some cloths?

customer service- very poor, totally unorganized, sounds like they are either overwhelmed with orders they can not fulfill or they have a small operation and can't handle all services offered on their website.

my advice- DON'T MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THEM!

We hired Toronto Maid Service / Green Maid / Canada Maid Service in 2009 to clean our home. We bought into a series of 8 cleans for $770 and repeated the order twice (we had no ongoing contract). The service itself was OK. However, in December 2009, we cancelled the service when they billed our VISA without authorization for the second time. Although they promised to refund the unauthorized charge, it took almost 2 months and a threat to call the police to get the charge refunded. 3 months later, we are still trying to get our keys back through a Better Business Bureau complaint (there are many lodged on the BBB site).

I wish I had read the reviews or checked the BBB site for number of complaints against this company before I gave them my visa number. Too late now since I wasted $1600 and ended up changing my house lock after the first 'cleaning'. No refund of course but the maid caused more damage then she did cleaning so I would rather admit that I was scammed and at least not waste my time. If I had the time to supervise the maid, I may have given them another chance so that I don't write off the 1,600 completely.
To summarise my experience:
- I paid for 3 hours cleaning x 12 package; the maid was in the house for about 2 hours
- the house was not cleaned to say the least even though I only asked to have the floors and the bathrooms cleaned in an 1100 sq ft home; the bathrooms were not cleaned at all except there was something splashed all over the recently painted wall which took me some time to clean
- an item was broken and the broken piece nowhere to be found; this just tells you what kind of people they employ (the kind you do not want in your house unless you are there supervising them closely);
- I was not in the house and had left a note for the maid as well as a $20 tip as an extra incentive so she does a good job (wonder what she would have done if I did not leave her a tip???);
- after I complained and send pictures to illustrate what the maid had done (i.e. not done), they offered to send a maid the following week and finish the job; nobody ever came on the specified day

Stay away and don't get scammed like me! You will waste both your money and your time.

I first hired this company in June - I was very suspiscious of them as they are very hard to get a hold of. I purchased a package of eight weekly cleanings. A different crew of maids would show up every week and did an adequate job of cleaning my house. After the package was close to being over, I emailed and called them to find out when my last cleaning day was and received no response. Then, my next credit card bill came in and they have automatically charged me for another eight! Without my authorization or talking to me! Of course I cannot get a hold of anyone and their policy says no refunds! Well, we shall see about this! I highly recommend you look elsewhere as there are lots of maid services out there......

I've been having such a difficult time with this company replacing a broken and now useless item.

When I first signed up with them, they bragged that they had insurance to cover any damaged/broken item. They assured that it wouldn't be a problem to have something replaced if one of their maids broke something.

When I called the day after the cleaning to report the broken item, the person on the phone didn't offer an apology nor did he care. He acted like my call was a nuisance to him. I was told the supervisor "Kash" would call me.

No call ever came so I called back two days later. Again, I was told "Kash" would call me. I was also told he didn't have a direct phone number.

Weeks later and many phone calls later, still no call from "Kash".

After doing some online research (which I encourage everyone to do on any company they're planning on using), I found out "Kash" is really "Prakash" and he is the owner, not supervisor.

This company and its owner has no integrity nor morals.

I strongly advise you to stay away from them.

First of all, you are forced to sign up and prepay for a package of a minimum 4 cleanings, which cost me approx. $500. When I called to book my second appt, they told me what I paid for was one detailed cleaning. This was outrageous! There was no detailed cleaning and I would never pay that kind of money for a cleaning, detailed or not.

When I explained to Mark that I had signed up for a four package cleaning, he said that package was only implemented a week ago. I told him then how would I know such a package even existed if that wasn't what I signed up for.

After he put me on hold for a while, he came back and said I was correct. This was the first clue that this company does not operate in good faith and honestly. For all the cleaning appointments, they never showed up on time within their four hour window (!) they give themselves. That's a long time to be waiting around and then they can't even show up within a four hour window!

On one occasion, they didn't even show up and didn't call to advise of this. When I called them back, they offered me an extra cleaning free, which shocked me. However, it was quite difficult to actually get that free cleaning b/c initially they denied they offered me this freebie, and then when they "remembered", it took nearly two months for them to find a convenient time to fulfill that cleaning.

All in all, the cleanings are below average to average. The worst part of dealing with this company was all the untruths and run arounds.

Just stay away!
