Crooked fence....

What can i say about the fence Dave/Goodbye Garage built in our backyard:

1/ It's really crooked
2/ It's too high off the ground
3/ He told us he had to cut an inch or two off the floor boards of our deck but assured us the fence would be right up against the deck - of course this was not the case - In order to cover the gap he left between the fence and the deck, he nailed a 2x4 to the top of our deck. It looks terrible and is a tripping hazard. (We've since removed the 2x4 and discovered a huge, uneven 3" hole where our deck used to be - see photos)
4/ It took him many weeks to finish - that's what happens when you work 2 days a week and only a few hours a day
5/ There are several warped boards in the fence (which we have had to fix on our own)

There are other issues but let this be a warning to anyone who wants to hire Goodbye Garage - this guys is a hack who doesn't seem to care about doing even a half decent job -- stay away!

We called him a few times to ask him to fix these problems - but of course he never showed up.

Goodbye Garage, Hello Warped Fence

The garage in our backyard was in bad shape when we bought our house a decade ago. This spring, we hired Dave to take it down and install a new fence.

The demo proceeded fairly quickly. A month later, he still hadn't finished the fence, or removed broken concrete from the job. He prefers cash, refused cheques from President's Choice, regaled us with tales of his financial problems. Instead, we needed to hit an ATM daily.

The fence was built over weeks, with Dave working no more than a couple six hour days each week. Then he disappeared.

It took an angry call to finally get him to return to finish the disposal and put a latch on the gate. He asked for an additional $300 (cash, of course) for some minor additional work, but refused to provide an itemized bill detailing the extra cost.

Several boards on the fence are seriously warped, and it sits four inches above the ground on one side of the property. Dave said he'd be back to resolve the issues, but that was a month ago.

On the plus side, it doesn't appear he wants to collect the HST which is outstanding.

Quote for demolition - evading contact after promising refund

I'm really sorry to have to post this. Last summer, I dealt with Dave who was pleasant and friendly to deal with and quoted me a price for demolishing our dilapidated front porch. He took a $500.00 deposit by cheque, which has been cashed.

We were unable to go ahead with the demolition because of problems with our neighbour. (a long and frustrating story - our porch is joined to his.)

Dave agreed to refund the money, but did not keep his promise. I have been leaving messages since December asking for him to contact me about making arrangements. I have received no calls. If Dave is willing to make good on his promise to refund the deposit, I am willing to report the refund on this site as soon as it is made. In the meantime, buyer beware.

Garage Demo and Removal including asphault

Sometimes the seemingly simple things are best left to the pros. Demolition and removal of a falling down garage is one of them and Goodbye Garage is the company for this!

Fast and efficient, they demolished and removed a 'rotten to the core' wood frame garage and the asphault floor in less than 2 days.

No mess left, no fuss and no homeowner (namely me) risking life and limb to demolish an unstable structure.

Performed exactly as promised and agreed.

As an added bonus, the name says it all! Goodbye Garage!

$1,500.00
