after a lot of shopping around we finally hired RC to replace our old Furnace and Airconditioner. They were professional and friendly. We enjoyed the service and the units we chose. They weren't the cheapest quote we had but we chose them cause they are in the market for a long time and we had another friend dealing with them before and they were happy.

I called Royal Comfort for a/c and furnace maintenance. I was told that they charge $120 and clean the furnace, the evaporator coil and condenser. I was given a window of time the next day. The technician came an hour or so after the window. Cleaned the furnace and the electronic cleaner but said it was already clean (I had it cleaned 4 months before by a duct cleaner), did not clean the evaporator coil saying if the furnace area is clean there is no need to clean the evaporator coil. Opened the condenser panel, checked the freon pressure said needs freon -cost approx $300. I told him I had paid about that much the year previous and so there must be a leak that must be fixed. He said: difficult to find leak, said if you put in $150 worth of Freon it will last 6 mo to a year (but no guarantee). Charged $120 for furnace/ a/c cleaning (although did not clean the evaporator coil or the condenser) and $150 for freon.

Furnace on my new home not working, It was installed by RC for previous owner, who bought full warranty. Called RC for emergency fix. Staff diagnosed and determined a replacement part is needed. Staff came back next day replaced the part. So two visits.

Staff onsite are awesome...identified the problem quickly and appeared to know their stuff. However, previous warranties from original home owner were not honored, despite previous owner probably paid a ton to get it. Also, price quoted on phone was $120 before tax and ended paid $180 before tax for first visit and price quoted on phone for returning visit to replace part was $90 but ended up $95. I give them benefit of doubts that it was probably miscommunication. Nevertheless, it is a disappointing experience on my first time using them.

But VERY disappointed on them relaying the information on financing. I would suggest anyone to not sign the documents till you go over it with someone who knows about what the total costs are. There is a $49 fee to process the paperwork, which they never told me about (and subsequently my account went into overdraft). They took a deposit of $500, but since I went with financing, didn't refund it after installation, instead it is happening 2-3 weeks down the road.

If you are paying up front - great people, if not I would go with another company or have them tell you all the parts pertinent to the contract.

Asked for an air conditioner inspection to determine why it was not working. Did not perform any tests and claimed that it needed new coil and refrigerant to be replaced. Wanted to charge me $450 for coil and $300 for puron and said that it could not be covered under warranty b/c there was no maintenance done on it. Called manufacturer and determined that it was covered. If they remove the coil and realize that it's something else that caused the issue, they will still charge for part and charge additional fees to fix any other problems that may come up. Very sketchy technicians.
Advice: make sure you follow the technician to see what they are doing and ask lots of questions. Make sure that they conduct all the tests necessary to make the diagnosis.
