selling procedures are not truthfull and the sales person is missed informed from Encore

This builder seems to stand behind there product but there selling tactics are no the most honest, we were told that if we bought a house with a basement suite that we would received a $20.000 dollar grant from the city for having a basement suite and was not told that we had to apply for this grant before the suite was build to be approved , we bought the house on the pretext that we would receive this $20000 grant for having a basement suite that's what we were told before we bought it and that was the only reason we bought this house. After we purchased this house we received a letter from the city saying that we are rejected because we have applied after the suite was builded you would think that this company would of known this and been able to inform us of this before we bought the house , we asked many times if qualified for this grant and we were told that yes you will get it no problem . So buyer be were have everything on paper before you decided to buy a house from Encore . This grant was going to be used to do the landscaping and fence so I guess that we will not have a fence or landscape for years to come because of this builder.

New Home Build

Great family owned company, built a house with them in Leduc and their service goes far and beyond. They were able to do some last minute custom touches which most builders would likely say no to. They were very fast at responding to the service requests, and actually had their trades show up other builders keep putting you off. They stand behind their work, and if something needs correcting they will do it. They felt like a smaller builder with a focus on the customer.

Outstanding service and always easy to deal with. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a builder who goes above and beyond to satisfy their clients!
We were able to walk through our home through the process and were encouraged to be a part of the process.

Brand new home

Bad experience from beginning!!

Information delivered to customer are not truthful and misleading (Its all about sales pitch and closing the deal).

Sales person was not very helpful especially after the contract is signed. Email got replied every 3 weeks minimum and I needed to do minimum of 2 follow up emails before getting a reply. Master in making excuses: blaming the technology or co-workers (email, network, etc). Up until the possession time, we only saw her three times. 1st when we inquired about the house, 2nd when we given her the exterior color chart, 3rd when we removed condition and sign the purchase contract. She did not show up on the possession date and never thanked us for the business.

Small changes to the plan took them a month to price and the price given was triple the final change order cost. Sales had to revise it three times and could not explain the breakdown of the cost. They also said that their estimator works in Red Deer and could not reply email promptly (main office is in Edmonton ? something is not right). They claimed to be Master Builder but could not even priced small change and have to add allowances to everything which in the end customer have to pay those allowances because of site conditions or trade mistakes or inability to do the changes.

Interior Design meeting was a disaster. The show room was under construction and customers were not notified of this situation. It was unsafe and we wasted our time not being able to find the right products.

Designer was not notified about the color selection which already been made right from the beginning to match show home. Sales had never forwarded the email to designer but told customer she did. Designer had to call home and get her family member to find the color board.

Using Builder lawyer will save you money, WRONG. If your lender did not get your mortgage 3 weeks before possessions, you will have to pay for title insurance which could range from $300 to $700 out of your pocket.

Change Order crediting money back to customer was never created by sales. Customer had to stay on top of things and remind the company manager to issue the Change Order, which is written a week before possession date.

Disaster in scheduling and paperwork. She set up a meeting with us on her time off going on holiday. So, we showed up and no one was there. Important information & documentations were supposed to be given on the removal conditions date but not received until the possession date. So, customers were not educated on the warranty, issues, and other important information pertaining the house and customers rights.

The builder/sales were also doing something behind the scenes. We were confident that we were the first customer who purchased lot/house in the area but ended up as the last one that gets built.

Builder/Sales should have 0 Star but I rated them 2 because one of their service guy had been doing a good job. He attended all my questions and need in timely matter.

Spec Home

We did extensive research before selecting a builder in the West Haven neighbourhood of Leduc. What sold us on Encore was their "Master Builder" accreditation. This means they follow building practices that in many ways exceed building code. After living in my home for nearly 5 years I can honestly say we LOVE IT. Not even a nail pop in the wall (weird for a new home). Our home has been totally problem free. Ask those in the neighborhood as we did, this way you aren't just getting the people who are complaining. Also consider driving through one of their old neighbourhoods before buying in a new one. You will see these homes pass the test of time VERY WELL.

new home/Service

Sadly we have to agree with the last reviewer. We moved in to our new home in November 2013. All our experiences with Encore and the team prior to possession and for about a month afterward were great. Then they basically disappeared and we have been trying to get them to finish our home since. Every 2 months I have to send a nasty email to try and get work done. They apologize profusely and for a week or 2 they get some more done and then disappear again. They make promises and commitments that they don't keep. It is now mid July and we are completely fed up. I sent yet another email yesterday but have not received a response from them which is out of character. Not sure what our next steps are. I absolutely cannot recommend this builder to anyone because of the post possession disappointment.

Service

When we first built our home I was quite impressed with the team, they were friendly, upfront and honest, but now that we are in our home that expect to be impressed motto they have has lost its luster. I feel as tho now that they have our money they no longer feel we are a priority, I have watched other people move in who use the same builder saw we did who have people completing the things in their homes before they have done anything in our and we have been in our home longer, when I asked I was told it was because the neighbor complained. Really? So we have to chase around the builder? I am less then impressed and would not use them again in future nor recommend them.
