Windows replacement

This was the most horrible experience I encountered with Windows sales and installation company ever. I was left with damaged walls (interior and exterior)and water problems(went all the way in the basement). I ended up filing a complaint with BBB. My phone calls were not returned and through intervention from BBB, finally when James and Niraj did call, they would contradict each other for not returning my phone calls. Twice I took a day off from work on the schedule days and they did not come for the repairs. I waited about a year to solve this problem and eventually BBB recommend arbitration. Artibration process was not guranteed any time sooner and slight moulding was noticable in the basement drywall due to the water sipping in from the window. I was left with no choice but to hire another company for the repairs of the windows, repair for the water damage between walls and basement. If I had waited few more months, the mould would have spreaded from the basement to higher up. Added cost due to the repairs was $4,8000. James is a smooth taker. He will try to sell you with his sales pitch of customer service. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

Company Response

1. Customer originally paid by credit card, two separate slips were mailed (standard post) Both were signed and mailed back. This process took about 1-2 weeks.

2. There was never any mention of water damage in any original BBB postings etc...in fact this whole dispute started over a bay window ROOF being capped that was never part of the original deal, which is why Tina was happy to sign her credit card slips.

3. The pictures attached by Tina shows the top of a wood casing with some minor drywall damage from the installation of a new window and casings. We were happy to come back and patch the small amount of drywall.

4. Tina demanded that we give her a service time guaranteed in writing with penalty. The problem was we originally were going to get appoximately $175-$225(later after threats we agreed not to charge) for the capping of roof. We did not want to do this as it is not a good idea in general to cap steel with aluminum also it takes minimum half a day. Our installer agreed to do it, but we had trouble booking around Tina and the installer's schedule. In the end after many personal insults and frivolous BBB complaints we decided to say goodbye to Tina.

5. We were definitely responsible for the minor drywall damage, but there was no interior/exterior water damage (this is the first I've heard of it), and frankly the customer started insulting the company and we had had enough. There was no court case, and I'm sure that the water damage story is mostly just an attempt to damage our reputation.

6. The other pictures appear to show normal window condensation, and quite frankly water cannot leak through the top of a window casing due to gravity. All Brick to Brick jobs are caulked around entire brickmoulds either way.

7. I'm proud of this 0/10 rating as it shows the hardship that will inevitably happen after installing thousands of jobs. This is the price of growing as a company.

8. We would have done all that Tina wanted without charge, but after numerous personal insults we were fed up. Tina is also our only BBB complaint and coincidentally our only 0/10.

New cutout window and patio door change

I favored James as he is an alumni and also came in at lowest quote for our starter home. Cut out window double hung was installed perfectly, and still looking great. The assistance installer dropped some stuff that cause a hole in our kitchen window screen and left some debris after the job was over including some nails on driveway. After complaining, James did bring a screen by for me to do. However, I do not know how and since then the hole is still there.
The patio door was leaking but even though I had ask for a frame to frame, the studs were not replaced, though I now realized that it would have required taking out the part of the deck. The additional recapping was done but I had little confidence and ask James for some caulking which I attempted to do which now made the change over horrendously worst cosmetically. After the first winter we can tell you since the stud was not replaced, there is a huge draft that comes through that same corner that I had concern about.
This year we needed the master bedroom 2 windows replaced, child's bedroom and front entry door replaced , but the wife decided not to give James another chance the prove himself as I had called on him once again and she forcefully removed him from our list.

Company Response

Firstly I would like to thank Mr. Lam for writing a review, but obviously I do have some concerns with being given a poor rating.
We performed a cutout window into a bare wall on the 2nd floor and also installed a standard patio door. All of this by the way for $1600. Studs for all types of installation whether brick to brick, or retrofit are not removed unless in extreme cases when the stud is rotten. Mr. Lam proves that I completed what he requested by mentioning that he was promised "frame to frame", now obviously my question would be what exactly Mr. Lam thinks a stud is? You see the stud is the frame, and the frame is only removed if rotten, so I am a bit confused because Mr. Lam states he wanted frame to frame, but his patio door was installed stud to stud, again with the stud being the frame. I was also aware that Mr. Lam also had a siding issue at the bottom of his patio door (Mr. Lam's back area is encased in siding with no concrete sill, just wood). Many times the existing siding is not properly sealed so people get leaks around their patio doors, or above it due to a lack of proper flashing around edges of existing siding. The installer went back and did what he could, but obviously I could not re-side the house, also it is important to note that Mr. Lam was renovating the entire house at once, so I'm sure there were other issues related to the previous condition of the house. Also Mr. Lam asked me for just the caulking and screen, he requested no more, or less, most likely because I found him to be a very nice guy. If I am not told that more is to be done, how can I do more? Also the draft is probably caused by the area between the siding and the outside of his stud. Again usually this is because whoever sided the house before Mr. Lam bought it had not properly insulated below the siding. All companies in the Window & Door industry get blamed for a lot of problems we did not cause, nor were responsible for. I hope Mr. Lam would give me a call on my personal cellphone (which he more definitely has) and would remove this poor review, or at least adjust it. Either way I heard Mr. Lam is getting the rest of his work done by Home Depot, I wish him the best of luck. As a final note I would like to state to Mr. Lam that if he wants he can call me and I will try to take care of his draft free of charge as I would rather spend the money to send an installer to spray in some foam, than suffer a bad review.

Window and Door replacement

We have recently under gone extensive home renovations and came across several different companies. The original contractor made some very bad decision on our windows. Fortunately we met window choice, the company for whom its not just the size of the project that matters. Although just couple windows but these guys treated us with dignity and respect. Educated us on every minor detail of the product and gave us the most fair possible price. From Knowledge to Rates to Customer service, to Finished result......the list goes on. The peace of mind with this company is their work is service driven not sales driven. Over all I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Keep up the great work "Niraj and James"

porch closed in

I recently had my porch inclosed by Window Choice. I found they were a very professional company. The service was excellent and the work they did was prefect. The moment I seen the finished job I could hardly believe my eyes. It was just beautiful. I would like to thank Jim "the installer" for all his hard work. I only wish I had done this years ago.

Window replacement

After many quotes, we settled on window Choice. Not beacuse they were the least expensive, but their story was credible.
Not only were they on schedule for the installation, early even, they were very professional in their installation.
The sales person, James, was very in tune to our expectations and demands.
Live up to their promises.

Kitchen Slider

When planning our kitchen renovation, we decided to put a slider in to replace the old door. However, during the course of the renovation, when the builder asked us where the slider was, we realized that we had forgotten to buy one! Fortunately, we called Window Choice, and they got the slider to us right away. One of their sales associates even personally delivered it to us! It was great to finally deal with professionals.

Windows

We had thought of replacing our kitchen windows for a few years. After receiving 3 quotes we were especially impressed with James' honesty and thoroughness. We called 3 of his references and they all agreed - this is a great company! There was no pressure or false claims, and ultimately, they were on schedule, very courteous, and they cleaned up afterwards. We actually ended up ordering 4 windows and we plan to finish the other 3 in the spring. Give them a call - you won't be sorry.
