Underpinning, basement apartment, 2 floor complete reno
We needed to completely gut and renovate 2 full floors, including underpinning and creation of a legal basement apartment in our 100 year old semi-detached home, and knew that excellent communication and project management was our top priority in selecting a contractor (and to maintain our sanity throughout the process). Working with Larry, Elia, Charlotte, and all of their subcontractors made the project seamless from start to finish, and any hiccups encountered were promptly responded to and dealt with. Our job included: architectural drawings and permitting, underpinning, waterproofing, structural work, fire proofing to code, all new windows and doors, all new electrical, all new HVAC, 2 washrooms, 2 full kitchens, hardwood floors, insulation, tiling, a backyard deck, finishing, and everything in between.
Navigating the legal basement apartment construction and permitting process can be a complex task in downtown Toronto. Larry managed everything perfectly through the inspection process, and all the subcontractors hired were professional, courteous, and delivered high quality work. After having gone through a stressful renovation in the past, hiring HIP this time around was a no-brainer, even knowing that they would cost us a bit more. We highly recommend their service, and would gladly hire them again in the future.
