Smitt Con (aka Smitty's Contracting) started my project that was to be maximum cost of $75,000, and completed within 6-8 weeks. The contract included raising the garage roof and installing a new garage door (contractor installed a used door), removing a back addition and adding a covered deck, removing 2 interior supporting walls to create an open concept main floor, remodeling the kitchen counters and cupboards (cupboard doors are still owing), moving the main floor bathroom (a 'second' tub was installed with cracks and chips). Work was to also include: replacing front kitchen window, front door, and installation of 4 new large windows in the front porch (none of these items were done). Eight months later the work is still not completed. My garage was left without a roof for the entire winter and still does not have a roof. I have paid more than the original contract for questionable extra expenses and have received used materials, have no cupboard doors, no garage roof, and no new windows as outlined in the contract. Now Smitt Con has walked off the job and is refusing to respond to all attempts I have made at communication. They have failed to respond to 2 notices sent from the Better Business Bureau, and now have an F rating on their website. I will be taking this company to court to sue for the cost of materials and work that has not been delivered as outlined in the signed contract. Smitt Con has breached my contract with them.
