Garçon came in and saved the day. The previous builder left the job undone and would not resolve the problem. They were fast reliable and super professional. I highly recommend them.

Leaking Window, Caulking and Painting

We live in a house that is 3 years old. A couple of the windows at the front of the house would leak water when there was a windy rain. We weren't able to pin point the problem and as this continued to happen the window frame and ledge inside suffered water damage. GarCon sent their caulking crew in. They sealed every possible hole/crack on the outside of the house. The leak was finally fixed after about a year. The painter came in and fixed the window ledges and frames and the problem was solved. We were in close contact with GarCon through this whole process. The people working on the job were friendly, they cleaned up after themselves and you would never know anyone was there. Even when the painter was in the house he moved the furniture out of the way, laid drop clothes everywhere and when he left he moved he moved everything back like it never happened. Thank you GarCon!

Adam and Team were professional, courteous, trustworthy, efficient and provided PLENTY of value for money. They provided all of their references and qualifications up front and they were accommodating to all my needs and went over and above on many many occasions - great company to work with. Highly recommend them.

Out of a few contracting companies we contacted, we ended up choosing GarCon based on reviews on homestars, impression and most importantly their price. We are very satisfied with the team lead Larry assigned for our job. Work gets done nicely when he is around but we find work gets a bit sloppy when he isn't around to check on his guys. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with renovations so just 2 days out of the 2 weeks of demolition and rebuilding that my boyfriend was away, the guys finished the framing with bits and pieces of wood that does the job but not proper. Also, another suggestions for other is when demolishing an older home, you ALWAYS find surprises. Be prepared for it mentally and financially. Our place turns out to have hot water radiator rods in between the wall, some rods are old that can be remove and some are still in use. If we didn't put the demolishing on hold, we would have got charged another few grand to get those removed (and it does not include putting the rods back in). We end up finding another company to do that for less than half the price we were quoted from GarCon. No fault for GarCon but for homeowners on tight budget, do your shopping around and take your time.

Moved into house and needed some repairs done. GarCon was responsive in giving us a quote and they completed the repairs in a fairly timely matter. We had GarCon do the following:
- Repair a hole in our subfloor
- Vent dryer outside
- Reinforce support beams in basement (due to crack in one of the original beams)
- Move our attic access
- Repair a structural beam in the attic that had been cut
- Install a Range Hood above our stove with venting outside
- Convert a plaster closet to drywall pantry
- patch holes in the wall
- upgrade our electrical box
- fix some wiring in the kitchen
- fix lights that were improperly installed.

In general we were extremely happy with the repairs and work that was done. The quality of the work that was done was always extremely high.
We only had two issues:
1) They did not put up any form of protection when tearing down plaster in our kitchen (despite re-assurances from the foreman that they would). I think this was an unfortunate oversight on their part, but it left our entire main floor covered in white dust that we are still cleaning 6 months later. Fortunately, when moving our attic they properly put up plastic to block much of the dust from spreading (very effective).
2) When repairing the hole in the floor they did not put in any additional support meaning that I still sink a little when I step in the repaired area. The foreman also made a comment that it was not acceptable, went downstairs and then dropped the issue a bit later. My guess is that the issue was dropped due to the way the repair was done. To put in the additional support would have required undoing the repair which would have created more damage then was worth. The repair itself was extremely well done.

Aside from those two issues their repairs were extremely well done. The staff was courteous and friendly. They were also very economical and met our budget. Our original quote was for 8000-9000, but they had to increase the amount midway through due to unforeseen electrical issues (upgrading our electrical box to properly support adding and fixing our electrical sockets). Their new quote of 12000 was also quite reasonable, and I think this would have occurred with any construction company. This also caused them to be a bit delayed in completing our project.

I would recommend them again and dock them only 1 star due to the two above issues which were not to major given the scope of the project.
