Adam's Moving

Although Adam's came highly recommended I was very disappointed in the service I received. I'd love to just forget about this awful experience but I keep finding new scratches and gouges on my old but much loved furniture some of which I've had since childhood :(! They were just so careless from start to finish. - Nobody went over the paperwork to confirm the details before beginning the move - One of the movers wasn't wearing a mask when he first arrived - I had to ask him to put one on. - They didn't bother to wrap the sofa, chairs or any of the wooden pieces to protect them from the rain - they claimed they were going to pad it in the truck but they took them through the rain unprotected to get to the truck - They didn't even take the time to take the wooden legs off the sofa to wrap them (they're all scratched and gouged now). - They piled wood furniture on top of wood furniture on the dolly without padding - They took no care in making sure the boxes remained the right side up, and joked about how they were going to try to fit the whole apartment into a single elevator load. - They asked to take a break in the middle of a two hour job which I've never heard of before. - My much loved desk has a gouge in the right hand corner which I will now have to repair. They were hurried and careless like they were trying to get everything done as fast as possible. But not so fast they couldn't take a break in the middle of the job. In the past I've used other moving companies both of which carefully wrapped the pieces and took far more care with my belongings then the movers Adam's provided. How I wish I'd gone with one of the previous companies I used rather than taking the recommendation to hire Adam's. Absolutely heartbroken about the desk :(
In response to the company's response below: As you say they were well under the 4 hour minimum, and so my point about the elevator comment was that they didn't need to try and fit everything into one elevator load. There was ample time for them to wrap the furniture, to remove the legs from the sofa and wrap them so they weren't damaged, they didn't need to overload the dollies and pile wood furniture on top of wood furniture with no padding and stack the boxes any which way. After all, I was going to pay for four hours anyway as that is your minimum. But as you say all moving companies operate a bit differently.

I just wanted to thank the gentlemen, who came to move me yesterday. They were hard working, quick very helpful and most of all, patient. Making sure everything was put in the right place and that I was happy with the placement. Thanks again guys.

The worst move to date. Dining room table and hutch (antique) ruined. Bought additional insurance for up to 5,000. Was offered 125.00. Despite efforts to reasin with the owner needless to say we are going to small claims court

I have used Adam's Moving 4 or 5 times since 1973 and highly recommend them to anyone. Firstly, Adam Anderson is a caring and honest person to deal with, just as his dad was. He provided us with helpful advice prior to the move and his estimate of the cost turned out to be very accurate. There were no surprizes or hidden costs!

Our moved involved moving out of the house on Tue and moving into the new house (3 hrs away) on Wed. On moving day Adam arrived with Luc, Chris, Howie, Andrew, Mike and Liam at the time they said they would. They were efficient, careful and worked tirelessly for about 6 hrs to move us out. The next day they arrived at our new location on time and ready to get working. They spent another 6-7 hours setting us up and making sure our needs were met. All of these men were gentlemen, respectful and caring. They were pleasant to work with and left us in the best possible shape. We did not have one broken, scratched or missing item. Likewise, Jenifer provided advice and administrative services in a very professional matter.

Moving can be a stressful and emotional undertaking. We highly recommend Adam's Moving as the number one company in the Ottawa area.

Adam came in to give us a quote for our move from Ottawa to Cambridge and at the time explained a lot of details and gave us a great package of information and tips. Once we booked the job, all went smoothly. Movers arrived on time, packed up the truck very well, unloaded in our new home without incident and followed up with us to see how it went.
