We first learned of New Steel Roofers at the Toronto Home and Reno Show where we were introduced to their Metstar Slate-Series product. Compared to all the other steel roof products that we researched, the Metstar granulated steel shingles were the only product line that provided the "look" and "texture" of asphalt shingles with the durability of steel.
The salesman Chris was prompt to visit our house and provide a detailed quotation. He was also very polite, friendly and readily available by phone to answer questions throughout the entire installation.
We had 3 other steel roofing companies provide competitive quotes and New Steel Roofers pricing was competitive - but not the cheapest.
Installation was estimated to take up to 15 business days (weather permitting) and the job was completed within this timeframe.
The installation crews were polite and hard working. They did their best to clean-up every night however, I am still picking up cigarette butts out of our gardens. (I wish they would use a can or ashtray or something...)
All things considered, we are extremely pleased with the product quality and the professional and skilled workmanship of the installers. I would definitely recommend New Steel Roofers to anyone considering to replace their roof with a steel product.
If I could offer one constructive criticism to New Steel Roofers it would be regarding safety. We have quite a high and steep pitched roof. Not once did I notice the workers on the roof tie-off as required by law. This is a huge liability! In fact, one day when the workers did not show up, we were informed that it was because one of them had fallen off our roof! Luckily the ground below was soft and I was told he was OK.
A minor issue, but I recall being a bit frustrated when, to take advantage of good weather, we agreed to have the crew work both Saturday and Sunday which was quite disruptive to our weekend schedule-only to have them not show up on the Monday without any notice.
