We stripped and replaced our roof in 1988, and even with good quality asphalt shingles, they were shrinking and some were quite deteriorated. Max provided answers to all my questions, and we decided on the Allmet Granite Ridge stone-coated steel shingles because we wanted a roof that looked much like the old one, and had nice clean lines. Although there were some delays due to weather in August 2012, the job was done professionally and quickly. There were some tricky bits - two dormers, skylight, separate front porch, separate dining room bump-out, two stacks, chimney - but it all came together and looks great, with nice clean lines. Because there was only one layer of asphalt shingles, they could put the new steel roof right on top - just the edges needed to be trimmed off first. We are very pleased with the look, and are confident that the house is really weatherproof.
