This has been a complete nightmare throughout the last two years in dealing with parkwood. From the moment our original sales person quit it went downhill, there was no follow up as to what's happening with your build and having to to go through multiple sales people was ridiculous as they don't care about your file anymore. This was only the beginning, the construction process was even worse, plans and customizations that were discussed at the office was not even forwarded to the construction supervisors and when you were brought in for the electrical walk through, my kitchen was completely built wrong! Parkwood also has the nerve to charge you $750 for every change order that you request after the initial construction meeting, but they will never compensate you for the time and hassle when they make multiple mistakes on the same item. We literally had to be on site everyday just to ensure that the house was built correctly, and even then it was so stressful because it took a lot of emailing, calling, complaining just to get what we paid for. Mind you, parkwood has a ridiculous system where you are not allowed to contact the people in the office, you can only leave a million messages and emails and hope that someone will get back to you within a reasonable timeframe.
The story gets worse. At the time of posession, we explicitly told parkwood that we will not take posession of the house if my stair railings are not installed. Well they promised that it will be installed or else I wouldn't transfer the money. Well guess what, the railings were not installed and in fact they didn't even know when the railings will be available. By the way, the house plan has a open to below set up, meaning if you tripped and fell on the second floor there's a 10 feet drop and we were expecting kids to be staying at my house. Aside from this, walls weren't fully painted, I had a hole in my mud room, and there were a million other things not done. In other words, the house was not ready. When I asked the owner about this, he responded saying why I was so pessimistic, and acted like it was my problem that the house was in this state because I wanted to move in. And I quote him saying, " the house has a roof, running water and electricity, you can take posession of the house". This is the customer service that they provide. No apology for the many many errors, the stress and the inconvenience caused. After we moved in, it was another three months of construction going on inside the house, so imagine the dust, paint smells, and the trouble they cause, and they were never apologetic. They forget that people have jobs to go to, and can't just stay home for them to finish their job that was suppose to be done months ago. And the funny thing is, they expect you to leave your keys and let their trades come in to finish their job, because we obviously have complete trust and faith in parkwood and their trades! (Note the Sarcasm here)
So we fast forward to the one year mark, and we are suppose to have the walk through. Well when we were building our deck, the railings would not be installed properly since parkwood decided to put the electrical outlet right where the railings needed to be secured to the wall, so we emailed and called parkwood and they never responded in time, so we had to fork out money to relocate the outlet. This was sent out in late May of 2016 and now it is November, and we still haven't heard back from the warranty department. By the way, parkwood is unable to keep their staff, over the course of the year they probably changed 5-6 people in the warranty department. And before you reach a solution, a new person comes in and the process of emailing starts again, also note that they will NEVER return your calls, and when you go to the office in person asking to see the manager, the receptionist will tell you that they won't see you. That's the service you get a parkwood.
Overall, this has yet to be the worse house building experience ever and our family is so disappointed to the point that we can't wait to move out of this house and even when speaking to those who also built with parkwood we all share similar feelings. This just speaks to how awful this company treats their customers. And even till this day there is still a lot of things that remain unfinished and probably will never get fixed. My advice to you is never go with this builder, you save a lot of time, stress and grief. Trades that come to fix things in our house even say for every other house they fix, they go to parkwood homes five times, just shows that their workmanship is pretty lousy.
