Very sad experience dealing with customer and warranty department, compared with their sales persons...
So far we have a long list of fixing and repairs, but we can not even start talking about the list. Because they rarely respond either email or voice mail.
(1) Parkwood postponed our construction meetings date and procession date more than 1 time. And this is the first time I feel there might be something wrong.
"why delay our construction meeting again? And you have the construction meeting time in printing?"
"You are not the only customer of Parkwood"
Thanks for let me know
(2) Pouring our driveway.
Our neighbor was building their million dollar home with Parkwood several months behind us, but get driveway concrete poured even before us. Money talks eh? They are in such a rush after I complained again and again. Even before the day the sub-contractor poured the driveway, the stairs were not right and I had to email them and send them picture. Finally they poured the driveway before first snow but forget to check the city water shut off, which makes a ugly hole there afterwards.
(3) After we moved to our home we found out that there is no EPCOR water meter in our home! we talked to Parkwood customer support and they said they will send someone and I told them I book the EPCOR to my home to check next week. Days later,I phoned them the afternoon before EPCOR appointment asking why no one coming.
And the answer from the customer support manager is "why you do not re-schedule your appointment as you know the meter is not installed?"
I called EPCOR again, and EPCOR said they will install the water meter. Looks that Parkwood staff do not know their work very well.
Again I have to take time off each time I book my appointment.
(4) I use my portable clothes washer in my laundry room and the tap is not designed to take the back pressure of the washer. I talked this to Parkwood and their sub-contractors and get answers like this.
Parkwood "we do not have any document saying you can use a portable clothes washer in your laundry room"
Sub-Contractor "Why you use another washer in a brand new home"
I had to, personally contacted the manufacture of the tap and washer and get official response saying that the product I bought could be used in Canada. the problem is the connection from the tap to the water line. Once they know these and came to check, they finally found out the tap they are using is not even in our AGREEMENT!!!
(5) Mold in basement.
Leger board (the pressure treated wood to attach the deck) is installed so poorly on the ripped house wrap and mold was there. Until start doing my deck, I opened the insulation in basement, I found the mold. I insisted them to change the leger board also, but they did not. and once the ripped house wrap tapped they installed the same leger board back again but a quarter inch higher on one side. And I have to call them back to re-level the leger board. Again they pull the poor leger board out and nailed it back.
(6) Not until September 25, 2015 I finally got the parging (concrete along the basement) and window wells done properly... which is more than 9 months after I moved into our home... I send email and called around 30 times to get things done. Each time I got the same answer, "seasonal work, we do not know when, but we did contact the contractor". I guess when you choose the contractor based on the lowest price, you get what you paid, eh?
(7) counter tops
Honestly they might meet the "standard" but they are far from grade "A". Kitchen granite countertop obviously is not manufactured correctly. I can see the marks which grinder on a whole section... bath room countertops...
(8) Furnace register hole was cut too big on the carpet and sub-contractor using one size up register to cover up. Until one day the register popped up from the hole...
I understand all trade will have this or that defects, as long as we could talk about the defects and find out how to fix it. It is OK. I have no problem with that. But once you send the build emails, make phone calls and do not get any response. It is really frustrating.
Oh, one more thing, they hire "Top Shelf Closet and Glass" doing our shower room. Terrible workmanship and no quality control at all. You could see from the picture of their "Top Quality"
