Initial treatments (aerating, seeding, fertilizing) were all done in the wrong order! Eventually things got on track, but numerous occasions when the 'technician' didn't turn up. Calls to the office produced nothing but lame excuses and promises to rectify. The office staff had no idea of landscaping of any sort and could not seem to grasp that when a technician didn't show up on the allotted day, that it caused huge inconvenience to me - they didn't get it! Often, more calls had to be placed to get the work done - which, by the way was paid for up front!
Towards the end of the summer season and into the fall, there was a perceived change (slightly better) in the attitude of the office staff. However, an intrinsic part of my fall program fell apart when a technician was due to come to do fall aeration on the Thanksgiving Friday. He called at 3:30pm on the Friday to say that he couldn't make it due to the long weekend. Unfortunately, my wife took the call and accepted it. When my wife told me, I rang the office to let them know what was happening and that they should send someone in his place. My contract is with Weed Man of Surrey - not the technician who failed to carry out his job!
Was given more lame excuses (they really have no idea of what is going on!) and told that they would be round the next day - Saturday. Nobody turned up. After more phone calls and emails, I finally got my aeration done the following Thursday!
But this is not the worst of the issues... The whole-year program that I had paid for followed exactly the 'script' of treatments due.
Problem: Did anybody notice the long, hot spring/summer we have just encountered (2015)? No, well neither did Weed Man. They continued with their usual scheduling. Due to this, my lawn (although weed free) is the worst in the whole neighbourhood! Why? Because they continued to apply all the seeding and fertilizing schedules knowing that no water could be applied. Hence; Brown, burnt and severely damaged lawn.
I am totally dissatisfied with the whole culture of Weed Man of Surrey. I do think that higher management (back in Ontario) have taken some steps to try to make things better - but they have a long, long, long way to go.
I would actively encourage people not to use their services as they are ineffectual, inefficient and terrible value for money.
