Sears Home

I was very happy with the service that I recevied at the Sears Home store in Whitby. The sales rep was very knowledgeable with all the sales and work really hard to try and save us money.

Sears an I have done lots of business over the years. They offer a good variable payment plan. I ordered the windows/doors at the end of February and was told they would be ready to go at the end of April or early May. I got a call at the end of March that they were ready to go. Because of other work I was getting done I had to stagger the install,they did not have a problem doing so. UPDATE: Quality of install was not as good as first appearance, they did not seal a void under my Bay window that allowed mice to infiltrate my house. It took months of pestering until they sent someone over to fix the problem. The windows stick and appear to not be level. No more business from me.

I purchased a a water softener during one of their sales by phone. Service was quick and professional. The appliance was ready for pickup at the store. It took less than 10 minutes to grab it and put into my vehicle. They even followed up a year later to see how it is working and whether I was interested in an extended warranty. No pressure even when I turned it down. I will purchase from them again in the future.

The store has lost sight of customer focus. The staff are discretionary as to who they deal with and how. I tried to order sofas, THREE TIMES, each time the order was cancelled without explanation and only within a week of delivery! Meantime, I had donated my real furniture to Charity. No no furniture, no service, and no care --by Sears. The store has moved far away from the one we all grew up with!

Sears Home is a pretty nice place to shop for furniture. In my opinion, it’s a ‘step-up’ from your ‘everyday’ big-box furniture stores. The quality of stuff there just seems a little nicer than what you find in a lot of other furniture stores (the price does, however, seem to reflect the better quality). I recently went to Sears Home looking for a mattress, and instead came out with a few very nice ‘accessories’ for my home – they have very nice home decorations including plants, mirrors, lamps, vases, etc.). The service staff here just let us wander through, asking once or twice if we needed help with anything, and telling us to let them know if we had any questions (this is my favourite kind of ‘service’ to receive when just browsing – absolutely no pressure and not ‘watchful’ of shoppers). I would recommend Sears Home to anyone looking for new furniture or accessories for decorating – the price is slightly higher than other places, but everything is so nice that most people will probably find something there that they love!
