CHR Renovation Restoration

Jim and his team came to us by a referral. We were selling our house, and had 2 weeks to do several large projects. We engaged Jim to do our en-suite bathroom and the front exterior of our home. The team was easily the most curteaous and friendly that we’ve ever engaged with, the fee was competitive, and the final product was nothing short of spectacular. We wouldn’t change a thing about what we did. We only wish we had more time, we were listing the house while Jim was doing the final touches on our house. While we only contracted him for a couple of jobs, we ended up using him and his team for several other tasks. Feedback from the buyers and agents was that the en-suite that Jim and team did was one of the highlights of the house. We would recommend him without reservation.

We called upon Jim to restore some crumbling brickwork on our aging building. He handled all the permit work, kept us abreast of all timing and once work had started, he kept us informed on a daily basis. Work was done in a safe and immaculate way with very little interruption to shop-owners. His estimate was reasonable and his manner put us completely at ease. We will probably require further work done on our building and will not hesitate to use Jim again and refer him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and excellent contractor.

Jim Urquhart and his crew (Brendan and Bill) did an excellent job from start to finish. Jim's easy-to-understand estimate included a very clear explanation of what he would do so that it was easy to see what we would be getting. Throughout the busy summer, Jim kept us informed as to when he would have his crew on site. We wanted to replace the vertically-placed bricks on the window sills and Jim recommended a shale that was well suited for this purpose and affordable.

Jim's Gentle Giants (aka Brendan and Bill), who seemed to know everything there was to know about bricks, stone, and the stuff that binds them, were very cheerful, friendly, and pleasant - they were also fast, clean, and kept the trampling to a bare minimum. Overall, they fixed numerous step cracks, shifting blocks, missing mortar, and other problems with a clear mastery of their craft - these people really know their stuff and they like what they do. They were a delight to deal with and I would highly recommend them for any masonry or structural work that your house may need. They got all the work done so quickly that they were able to do some additional repairs to my beloved concrete block garage.

My tenant on the 2nd floor of my 80 year old all brick building had water coming in resulting from a hard rainfall through damaged mortar & brick with a worry of mold/mildew and damage. Jim and his staff were quick to fit me in between jobs. The quality of work, fair price, and friendly service were second to none. They even helped me out with a few small things that I needed done. I will certainly use their services again, and have in fact already arranged for them to help me re-arrange eavestroughs for more effective drainage. I contacted Jim to give me an estimate on renovating my bathroom. He arrived when he said he would and had great advice on materials and design. He delivered his quote in person and we agreed to contract him to do the work. I'm so glad we did. He and his crew were very couteous. They completed the work in the time frame we had discussed and left my bathroom and surrounding area spotless. The bathroom now looks amazing. You can tell Jim pays great attention to detail in his work and we were lucky to have him work for us.

Our house was built in the mid-1950's and it was time to replace the basement windows with glass block for privacy and security. Jim and his crew were timely (showed up when they said they would), efficient (no extended "breaks") and neat (lots of sheets, cleaned up afterwards).

I was also impressed with Jim's attention to detail in choosing the blocks to fit our windows and the overall appearance when finished.
