Servicing our hot water boiler system and drains

I have nothing good to say about this company and their plumbers. I've paid a significant amount of money for terrible service. The last plumber that came to clear my drain charged over $100 and left it as bad as he found it. We phoned the city and they cleared it completely - for FREE.

Dear Valued Customer, We are sorry to hear that you are not happy with our services. We investigated your drain problem using Very expensive and technical equipment. We determined that the problem was on the city side. We then advised you to call the city, as we are not legally allowed to touch city property. For this you paid us a whopping $99 plus tax. We are so sorry but we must follow the law.

Sewer line, backwater valve, sump pit

Excellent work from Kostis and the crew at Priority Plumbing. They came in on short notice, worked quickly, and cleaned everything up perfectly. The follow up inspection from Trevor was great as well. Highly recommended.

Water Heater

Don't be fooled by the sweet voice of the receptionist and the promises on their website. We had to have two valves replaced on our leaking water heater which are $350 to replace normally (parts and labour) as quoted by several other plumbing services. We paid to Priority Plumbing $850. They damaged the controller during these part replacements, which costs another $550 to replace. When our gas supplier detected a gas leak in our home, they agreed to pay the repair costs, but then refused a week later. This company will take advantage of homeowners in high stress situations and gauge them in pricing and provide shoddy workmanship in return. On top of all this they try to fool you into purchasing a membership and insurance with their service. Do NOT use this plumbing service. I have recently reported them to the Better Business Bureau and the Ministry is currently investigating.

Company Response

Dear Vesna, You called us because you had a flooding water heater. We charged you $400 to repair it and we left. You called us back again for a different leak on a valve above your water heater. (Not on your water heater), and we charged you $250 to repair that. You must have been happy with our service the first time to have called us back a 2nd time. You then had a problem with your gas line several days later. (Something completely different). You called us again and we told you to call the gas company. We do not work with gas. We did NOT touch your gas line at any time. We understand that it is very easy for you to blame us for your problem. We are sorry that you incurred these expenses, but we did NOT cause your problems. We fixed the problems that you paid us to fix as promised, and we thank you for this. Thank you.

Fixing an underground pipe

All the drains in my house would not work so I called Priority Plumbing. It isn't easy to find a service company who’s on time, however I can honestly say Priority Plumbing accomplished this.
They were right on time, very friendly and did a great job! Our taps were done in just a few hours and when they left it looked like no one had been their in the first place! I truly appreciate the work they did and would not hesitate to call them in the future.

Service

I left a deposit for some work to be done but it wasn't in my budget at this time. Priority plumbing refunded my deposit minus the service call. I will call them when ready to do the work

Lead water service replacement

We contacted a number of plumbing companies about upgrading our water service from lead to copper. Priority was one of the more reasonable quotes, but also appeared to be the most reliable and capable. The work was completed quickly and efficiently and was for the exact amount quoted. The crew who performed the work were polite, did good work, and cleaned everything up when they were done.

Fixing shower and leaky water valve

We had Priority Plumbing come in and clear our drain in the laundry room. They were extremely professional, came quickly and were very friendly. They also only charged $100 and we were very impressed. A few months later we had a few more different issues in the house so we called them again to fix them. At last we found a great, moderately priced plumber who did a great job. When I made the service call, the man who answered the phone was extremely pleasant and they came very very quickly. When the plumber came over, he listened to my complaints and briefly looked at the issues. He did not take anything apart. He then sat me down and went over in detail how my noisy shower and leaky valve would cost upwards of $1000 to fix. He said the part I needed for the shower was very pricey and hard to source. I asked if since we only renovated the bathroom 3 years ago would it be under warranty and he said no. However I insisted that I could get the part myself and he did give me a separate quote without it. He told me just the part would cost $300. For the leaky water valve in the basement, he gave me a whole long winded story about how he will need to take the entire thing out, put in new parts etc. That would cost $500. I was a bit flabbergasted with the cost because I renovated our entire house and knew simple plumbing issues did not cost that much. I called my neighbours plumber who actually took apart the shower, told me which part I needed, told me it would definitely be under warranty, called the store I bought it from, got the part for free and fixed it. I asked him how much the part would cost if it wasn't under warranty and he said max $120. As for the leaky valve in the basement, all it needed was to be tightened and problem solved. And no that isn't just a quick fix, it really had just become loose and needed to be tightened. I felt sick after Priority's plumber left only because I felt completely ripped off by them. Would it have been different if the plumber was dealing with my husband and not me? Who knows!

Company Response

Dear Jennifer, The difference between renovation plumbers and service plumbers, is that we service plumbers are called in to fix the problems that renovation plumbers create. For example, the reason the valve needed tightening was because the seal has worn away creating a space between the nut and the stem. Tightening the nut does not repair the seal that protects you from a flood. Eventually that valve will leak again potentially causing tens of thousands of dollars in damages. So in essence it is a "quick fix". The valve needs to be replaced. We see homes that are flooded every day because of this type of poor workmanship. Sometimes you may be happy to save a few hundred dollars in the short term, but it ends up costing you much more in the long run. We are sorry that you are unhappy and can understand why you thought we were trying to take advantage of you, based on an opinion of a renovation plumber, however we as service plumbers see the bigger picture and work to keep your home safe from problems in the future.

Thank you!

Water heater valve replacement

I used Priority Plumbing's website to make an inquiry and had a representative call me back within a few hours. They offered to make an appointment for same-day service. Angelo, the plumber who arrived at my home, was impeccably polite and very friendly. The problem with my water heater mixing valve was identified quickly and the whole repair was made within an hour. Angelo provided several, fully priced options for me to choose form (some including warranties, and there was more than one way to solve the problem as well). If Angelo is representative of what the average professional form this company is like, then I can highly recommend them. Angelo, specifically, was exemplary. 10 out of 10.
