We were impressed with how soon they were available to start the work after we accepted their quote, and they owner graciously answered all of our many questions before they started. He even gave us a small discount for preparing the work area in advance since we were looking to save money because the foundation leak was an expensive surprise we had not budgeted for this year.
There were a few things that didn't go smoothly. First, they didn't want to get a building permit from the Town of Halton Hills before starting. It seems that a permit is not required in the City of Toronto for this type of work, so they were not used to needing to apply for a permit. But, all of my calls to Town of HH indicated that it was needed. So, we arranged for and paid for the permit so we could protect ourselves in the event that there was a problem with their work.
The second problem was that our newly installed eavestroughs were left damaged in two locations. Once the damage was brought to the owner's attention, one of the workers returned the same day to reimburse us for the cost of the repairs. The worker admitted to knowing about the damage during the work and decided not to say anything to us or the owner in hopes that we wouldn't notice. At least we were compensated, but we recommend you check the work area before you pay them.
A big thank you to the owner for addressing our complaint about the eavestroughs as soon as he was made aware.
