Mattamy in Fairwinds Stiysville.

Purchased a home in Fairwinds and moved in October 2015. While moving in, things were not finished inside the home, so contractors were finishing them while I was moving in.
30 day warranty is a nightmare. No one shows up for appointments to address the issues. Haven't used my shower since moved in. It's been 4 months. Mattamy keep promising things they do not deliver.
I am yet to see 1 year warranty list taken care of. You constantly have to push them. Prepare to take a lot of time off work.
I read bad reviews before I have purchased the home, should have stayed way.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND MATTAMY TO ANYONE.

Also Terion is a joke.

Overall Purchase Experience

We purchased a new build from Mattamy at the preserve site May 2015. We asked a number of times prior to purchasing the home around Mattamy's on time delivery percentage as time was an important factor to us.

The sales staff said there will likely be delays, but a chance that we would close on time. We were a little miffed, but they didn't seem to be very interested because homes were selling quickly.

We received our first delay letter in February 2016. We drive by the site and every house around us already had their foundation poured except ours. We reached out to the customer service centre and it took 2 weeks to respond to us with somewhat of an answer. We were then told that our home was going to be a "fire break". This means that every 7th lot has to stay open until the houses around are bricked - something they should have known in the planning stages.

The sales experience was not very informative - the sales people did not really understand the building process. They seemed to be there to just show you where to sign.

The design experience was fantastic. Our design consultant did a great job taking the time to go through everything with us. We found the prices to be a touch high, considering the fact there seems to be no credit given for the base products installed. Overall we purchased roughly $60K in upgrades and we were OK with the value of them.

The challenge here is that builders are not very concerned with closing their homes on time. There should be an understanding before entering the contract on historical on time delivery rates to better educate buyers who have to plan their lives around these purchases.

My two cents...

Price/Customer Service

I would to advise anyone who are in the market for a new home to stay away from Mattamy homes. Especially Airdrie, Southwinds Sales Centre. They will say things like someone is getting there mortgage approved for that lot, or someone is already interested in that lot...usual sleezy sales tactics. Mattamy as a company likes to find ways to protect themselves from obligations, I am one of those people who read the reviews below and thought "every experience is different" or "what could go wrong". Just think about this, they are cookie cutter, very rigid and unprofessional as compared other builders in the marker, if you have money to burn than thats another story. I wish I would have actually believed what the other reviewers have said. Just remember once you pay that $30k deposit, you are done and they will say no to every request you have from there on. Whether its a 300k house or more, everyone has worked hard from that. I wish I could list one thing here, but starting from there price quality assurance to there behaviour towards after the purchase, something which I didn't expect after buying a house worth more than half a million. Don't go for that signing amount, or the base amount because they will ridiculously over charge you from there on. I wish I could cancel this agreement with them and get my money back. Also, existing owners review your contract, we were being over charged and they will not come to you amend that. Review it carefully, even if they say it is fine consult someone because the staff doesnt know how it works and you will blindly believe what they say because they keep saying "this is how it works with Mattamy". BUYERS BEWARE!!!!

Warranty office nightmare.

I Have never been this upset for as long as I can remember. I submitted my 30 Day list for Mattamy warranty office in May of 2015. we are in 2016 now and very little has been done so far. I must have visited the warranty office more then 26 or 27 times and all I get from them is " you 30 day list is in processing". So after e-mails, visits, and phone calls I visited the warranty office a few days ago and started yelling at the assistant warranty manager" Joe" when he informed me again that " your 30 day list is in process." two days later Instead of receiving an apology for the 7 months delay. I received a threatening letter from there V.P of construction Jeff Schnurr, telling me that I'm not allowed to go to any "Mattamy office, construction office , sales office, or corporate office". What a great costumer service this company has. In my opinion they have become very arrogant. I definitely will not buy any more houses with them. and do not recommended for anyone to buy from them. there are a lot of there reputable builders out there that you could use.

New Home Build

To make a long story short i purchased a brand new pre construction 2 story town from mattamy in 2014. Have now been living in it less than 6 months and hate it. The workmanship of upgrades are horrible. Customer service isn't bad but the people coming to fix the mistakes are the ones that put them there in the first place. Ultimately they dont get fixed properly. The "bones" of the house are just as bad if not worse. I can hear my joined neighbors as if they where in my house, my floors squeak on my second floor and can be heard extensively on the lower level. If I had to do it over again i would have invested elsewhere. The dream they feed you is a facade. #mountpleasant

customer service follow up

I purchased a Mattamy townhouse in Stittsville as a rental property in Dec 2014. When I started the process to claim the HST rebate I called the customer care coordinator's office in the Ottawa area to enquire about the process and the required paperwork. I was told very flippantly that Mattamy had already claimed the rebate since they were unaware that the purchase was for rental, stating that my lawyer was remiss for not advising the Mattamy lawyer of the purpose for the purchase. I was advised that it was up to me to follow up with my lawyer. At my expense, after several phone calls to my lawyer (who had to go through the same customer care office to get info from the Mattamy lawyer ), my lawyer eventually advised me that, in fact, the Mattamy lawyer was well aware that my property was purchased as a rental and that I could indeed go ahead and proceed with claiming the HST which I had paid, and have since successfully claimed. I did not hear anything about the issue from Mattamy until I sent an email to them on Dec 10, 2015 stating that I wished to follow up about the process. My issue: the customer care coordinator with whom I initially dealings was unprofessional and in my opinion disinterested and downright rude to me. At no time when I called for assistance and advice, did she apologize that, in fact, there may have been an error on Mattamy's part and she would look into it until we reached a satisfactory resolution. The bottom line, the customer care woman in the Ottawa office needs a lesson in being respectful and investigative, not dismissive and curt.

New Home in Indian Land SC

I have been in my new Periwinkle home for about a month now and wanted to write a review in case it might help others. I have had such a POSITIVE experience with Mattamy and highly recommend them. Our new home consultant Roslyn is awesome. I think she is doing the job she is meant to do. She is truly amazing and could not be more wonderful. Our project manager Brian is also truly outstanding. Whenever we call or text, he immediately knows who we are and what the status of our house is. He has been very responsive and easy to work with. Very on top of things!! We love our Periwinkle II floor plan. It is different from anything else we have seen, and we have really looked! We love how it is so open and really feels like a home. We have not had any significant problems in the building process and are very pleased with choosing Mattamy. The only things to think about that I can offer are the following. We have a side load garage, which we think looks better than front load. Despite having a large generous driveway, it is still not enough to comfortably be able to pull in the garage. It is a chore still. Will we get better with it? Maybe. My dad told me we should make sure we get the large garage doors (was it 6ft). Unfortunately, we just have to take what we can get. It was not offered as an upgrade. We would have glady paid. Maybe it is not too much trouble with a front load garage to have mere inches on each side, but it would be so nice to have the extra space to get in the side load. Not sure why we can't upgrade since the garage itself is spacious. Also, we have a basement and the stairs are where the downstairs laundry room was supposed to be. I would consider switching the downstairs bathroom up front and the basement stairs. We've already made the comment that it is a long ways to the basement from the garage and my favorite feature of my last house was that the guest bathroom was right beside of the master. Those are my only considerations. I am supremely pleased though. The whole house speaks to quality and is very well constructed. A lot of my family is in the construction business and they have all been impressed with how well built my house is.

New home build

I just wouldn't ever again....
Here are the facts:
-Signed contract to build with Mattamy in Tampa area on 7.15.1
-Was told permitting takes up to two months, house would be complete end of Dec early Jan
-Heard nothing for two months
-Arrived in Tampa on 9.13.15 and called sales rep to ask. The response was, "Oh wow, it has been two months, let me check...."
-Told all was in order and should receive all permitting by 9.18.15
-At Design Center appointment on 9.17.15, new VP of Construction told us absolutely nothing had been done with permitting. We were at square 1 and looking at a March completion.
-Was told we'd hear from President regarding accommodation for our extra rental and storage time + hassle factor of a million.
-No call, ever, from anyone other than our sales rep.
-Great real estate agent got our contract canceled and $10K US back
-The lot we bought for a $10 K premium is now being sold with at $29 K premium.

Buyer beware!!!!

HARDWOOD FLOORING

The worst builders don't get fooled by they name, they just use ordinary small contractors to do the construction and that is the reason their are so many issues I have faced after moving in my new home in Brampton Mt. Pleasant. Worst hardwood installation I have seen after paying 13,000$ for upgrade still have nails sticking up from the floor. I could have got a better home much cheaper too, got fooled only by the name. BEWARE PEOPLE.

Home build

I am sad and embarrassed that we entered into a contract with Mattamy to build our home un Calgary. After living in it for a year we are still sick with angst over how bad their product is and are frankly desperate for resolve. Their 'warranty' department is a shameful sham. We have built several other homes with other builders. They all have some problems but Mattamy seems to take pride in their professional approach to being the absolute worst. Seems like their actions should be deemed criminal but they are a bit too slippery to catch. A mega corp that has lost site of quality and honest performance.
