We live in a draughty 30's house, which had two wood-burning fireplaces. For years, we watched our heating dollars go up the flue and turned to Marsh's for a solution. From the outset we knew we had come to the right place. Willem came to our house to make measurements and put together a proposal. He insisted we meet him again at the showroom to finalize the order. In doing so, we arrived at an enhanced solution even more attractive than as originally proposed. Willem demonstrated his creativity in adapting the "engine" we wanted to our fireplace openings.
We cannot say enough good things about the two crews that did the preparation work and the installation, which occurred on different days. The prep was particularly challenging due to a daunting chimney height. Routing the gas feeds involved a lot of difficult drilling through stone, into and out of the house and awkward work behind hedges. The crew worked tirelessly and continuously for about seven hours. They cleaned both flues, leaving no mess whatsoever inside the house.
The installation required some final work outside as well as making the connections inside. Willem was contacted because the "surround" or frame for both fireplaces needed to be adjusted. Two days later, he returned with the finished products, the living room solution being more elaborate than that for the basement. Because it looked so well, we asked that the same approach be used for the basement fireplace, to which Willem readily agreed (to be installed next week)--this at Marsh's busiest time of the year. We are delighted with the results.
