Residential Landscape Design and Build
We enjoyed working with you very much and are glad you are pleased. The process of working though the City permits is sometimes arduous and we appreciated your patience while we obtained those approvals. We hope you enjoy your ravine oasis in the City !

One thing we pride ourselves on at Kent Ford Design Group Inc.is our detailed and thorough process of client input and design revisions. Our clients appreciate this and we are told we are good listeners. Its interesting that the client who wrote this review had a problem with listening himself, particularly when it came to matters of City by-laws. We met the challenge of satisfying his program of a rear yard pool, terraces, spa, bbq, and cabanna while abiding by the setbacks required for existing tree preservation . Our final design met with Urban Forestry guidelines however it didn't satisfy the clients intense desire to add more paving to the plan . As a result, we made more than the prescribed revisions in our design contract, and billed for them after notifying the client in advance of the additional cost, which was also spelled out in our contract. The design ended up going back to a pool layout that the client rejected at the preliminary stages of our design process.
We always welcome critique of our designs, however we take issue with this homeowner who was in fact the one who wanted to ignore the advice of our team arborist and the related City by-laws.
The homeowner who wrote this review was referred to me by another client. In hindsight we would not have taken her on but did so given her personal connection with an existing client. While the husband was enthusiastic and supportive of our work and a pleasure to work with, the wife was not. She was suspicious and antagonistic and so tight on the dollars that she argued with her husband on which dying weed trees to keep in their back yard in order to save on removal costs.
I believe that she was against the idea of hiring and paying a certified professional to come up with an architectural plan in the first place. In my view she would have been content designing the project herself while stumbling through the construction process. The " many mistakes in the plan " she refers to were opinions provided to her by a unidentified contractor with whom we had not opportunity to contact for Q and A. This same contractor apparently quoted the simple acrylic panels we designed at $ 15,000 each when they should have been $ 1,500. The difference says it all.
Not including " the slope of the land " as she claims was due to the fact that we were not retained to come up with a grading plan, which was part of more than one attempt to streamline her fees.
Professionals and homeowners both should trust negative first instincts when entering into a new working relationship .
