We purchased a Pragel countertop from Richmond, BC store only to discover upon unwrapping the product on installation day that it had a 6 inch flaw on the surface. As our carpenter's clock was ticking and we had an urgent deadline, we had to cut out a large section and butt another piece to it to complete the counter. I now have a large seam which we patched with caulking just inches from our sink. Looks like hell. We live on Vancouver Island and had the kitchen delivered so had to deal with IKEA by phone. IKEA made it very difficult to register a complaint: many 20-minute wait phone calls, e-mails, requests for photos, more requests for photos, etc. Ultimately,IKEA accepted that the product was flawed. Many weeks later IKEA decided to refund us for only PART of the cost. Customer Service in Montreal was, evaisive and rude and challenged me about the validity of my claim. I was left feeling humiliated and ripped off--absolutely shocking customer service.
Furthermore, our carpenter was appalled by the thinness of the coutertop material, and the course chip board used on the interior. One little knife cut and the interior will be exposed to water and thus, swelling. Run Don't Walk from this product, and beware of poor customer service.
