Basement

1st strike - I ordered my carpet on August 13 to be installed on August 21. I received a call while in the hospital (just delivered a baby on August 17) that they would have to install it on August 22.
2nd strike - Received a call by the salesman stating there were holes in the carpet and that he could give 300.00 off if we accepted it. We then accepted and he stated he could only give 160.00 off, that it would be cheaper to have it replaced, so replaced it is.
3rd strike - Walking in the room that had the holes in the carpet I found a bump, like the underpad had separated. Contacted them and they said they would send someone. They arrived the following Saturday and repaired the underpad it was not taped as it should of been.
4th & 5th Strike - Oct 28 - I am charged again by Head Office for the carpet on my Visa. I contacted Ottawa office 6 times from Oct 30 to Nov 11, to state that this has occurred.(I have alot of spare time with a newborn and this is how I would like to spend it "NOT") It is November 12 and it is still on my visa. They told me that when the discount (NICE - A discount for carpets with holes) was applied to my visa it was charged again for the whole thing. I used them once before 4 years ago and it was great, it was installed, I paid for it and nothing more. I would never use them again!!!!

Laminate Flooring

We purchased their Laminate Panga Pange on Septemeber 28th 2008, as of today October 24th the product still has not arrived (it was suposed to be in the following week)and there is no confirmation of when it will arrive. We were advised several times that it would be in during the following week but it wasn't until yesterday that a salesman finally advised us that there is no stock on this item. I have spoken to their head office who admitted that thier shipping was responisble for providing incorrect information to the Newmarket location but offered no compensation and was not able to confirm 100% when the product will be in. Basically they advised they have no control over the stock of the product they sell and will not guarantee the products to even be available after you have purchased them. Salesman at store will not take responsibilty for another persons sales so good luck getting any service at all. We will be asking for a full refund. Giant Carpet offers no customer service do not buy your flooring there.

Carpet and Flooring

I should have read these reviews first. What they sold me (which was to be 'comparable' to what I was replacing) is cheap and thin. So thin that the nails are coming up through the carpet. The installer suggested no bare feet. I have kids! This, after having to select an alternate carpet as the one I ordered was suddenly not in stock, though no one called to tell me this. Have had to stay home multiple times for installers/sales people to agree it is a bad job. But they keep sending 'just one more person' to check. Ironic as they didn't return a single phone call after they had my money and failed to show up as scheduled. Stay far far away.

Puchase of laminate flooring

Very happy with the product, not so much about the service. They sold my wife excellent laminate flooring at a very good price, and after we impressed upon them that we needed it the next day, assured us that it was in stock. The exact quote from the salesperson was, "We had 24,000 square feet in stock, we've now got about 700 square feet, so you're ok". I thought at the time it sounded like the old "while supplies last" pitch, but we put down a deposit anyway. We were told we could pick it up the next day, but not that night because the warehouse closed at 4:30. The next day we were told it was out of stock, but it would arrive by truck that night. Today a salesperson told my wife the product still wasn't there, but would be there tomorrow, without offering any apology. My wife complained, since we'd already booked help and taken off work to do the install, and this salesperson had the gall to insist that we actually hadn't been waiting as long as we were claiming. When my wife called head office to complain, the salesperson from the store called us shortly after and changed his story, saying that now the product is coming in. When I went to pick up the product, 50 cases or so, there was no one to assist me load it. I guess this is why the box stores are killing independents like this place. That said, the laminate they sold me was excellent at a very good price.

Carpet installation on second floor

We used Giant Carpet for installing new carpets in our bedrooms, hallway and stairs on the second floor of our house. The whole process was very efficient. Sales person was knowledgeable, price was right, and the installers were fantastic. Would recommend them.

Basement Carpeting

when we first went to the store, the gentleman assisting us was pleasant, odd, but pleasant. I would like to consider myself a person easy to please, proven by the fact we selected our carpet in 20 minutes, paid for it, and we on out way home. That was a Friday, and we were told that they would send someone to do the measurements on Monday and Wednesday someone would install. Its been three weeks since the person came to take the measurement, and we STILL HAVE NO CARPET!!! After every excuse in the book from both Bonnie and Steve Mandel (who never lets you finish a though or word without interruption) I cant even get a retuned call! Let it be said that along the way, I have never raised my voice, used profanity, nor have I been slanderous about them. But this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced, and that’s saying something.
I am sure that if we ever receive the carpet it will be beautiful, but I am unable to say that as I don’t have it. I would recommend customer service 101 to them, with a side of honesty, integrity, and maybe even ethics, introductory level would be a vast improvement for this company.

Ok So they finally came and the quality was 0, yep, 0! they left a mess that took a day to clean up, they never finished the work properly, and I had to go to the BBB just to get them to finish the most of the work.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WORK WITH THESE GUYS! They are the worst company ever!

New Carpeting

In July 2006 we hired Giant to replace the carpeting on our second floor. The seems were terrible, the grain was different from the hallway to the bedrooms - it was extremely noticeable. We tried for months to have them return to fix the work and spoke to many different people who promised to call us back - even the salesman was not cooperative until we visited the main store and complained in person. Finally they returned in spring of this year to "fix" the problem - however the seems are horrible and will probably never be fixed. I highly recommend to stay away from this terrible company.

5 rooms, hallway, stairs carpet intallation

This company was recommeNded to me but I won't pass the recommendation on. The installers worked very hard. My issues are not with them. The "POOR" rating goes to the salesperson. He promised a one day installation...it took two days. He quoted us a price based on his measurement of 161 square yards. He measured that twice and gave us that number both times. However, only 143.67 square yards were cut and installed to complete the project. We were told we'd be getting the 65 ounce carpet and it looks like we got the 40 ounce. After the installers arrived and informed me there was no way they could do all this in one day, I called the salesperson to remind him that a two day installation would jam me right up and that he'd even written down on the contract that I was going out of town the next day so it had to be a one day installation. He didn't even remember who I was. He made no apology for the trouble this was going to cause and he made no attempt to solve this. All it takes is this one salesman who wouldn't deliver on what he promised to make the whole Giant Carpet Company look bad!

Hardwood floor installation

I have no record of the transaction or the work order. They never called to confirm when they were coming to install They showed up at 11:30 (left at 6:30).They did not bring the nosing or the t-molding, which we paid for and needed (floor is not
flush with the bathroom entrances)
They did not install baseboards, which was in the work order
They did not notify us when they would return to finish the work
One box was the wrong product and could not finish the floor (installers knew before that 1 box was incorrect and did not notify us)
We asked the installers to start with the kids room, that was the room that was left unfinished.
The product has 4 different colors, looks like a checkerboard.
The product was not installed within 7 days of purchase, as per website.
Some of the installed boards are damaged, (kids room) and there are some staple bumps.
As a result our house is upside down, kids have been sleeping in the living room, and all our clothes are in bags.

The sales person was very friendly and helpful. We made a service call and they were quick to respond. Overall the carpet is great and the price is reasonable.
