I’m not one to write reviews, but my experience with Gallant was so bad I felt it was my obligation. We used them to cut/install custom quartz countertops and backsplash for our kitchen.
They are cheaper than most fabricators and offer more affordable product lines which was appealing initially but absolutely not worth it.
I got a sample of their Moonstone quartz in the color Carrera sky, took it home and compared it to my kitchen cabinets. I was happy with the match and ordered it for my backsplash and countertop. However when it was installed the color was completely different. You can see in the attached photos that the sample was a neutral true white, but what was installed had a very blue tone. I brought this to their attention and they immediately attempted to blame me, saying I was told “colours can vary in samples” (that’s untrue I was not told that). Plus, we all know that refers to variation in things like veining, not the stone being an entirely different color. What would be the point of having samples?! They were very combative about this, but ultimately our contractor came to the rescue and they agreed to take half payment.
We then noticed that during the installation, it appears they had smudged silicone caulking on the surface of the stone. It was slightly rubbery to the touch and waterproof. After trying everything to clean it I reached out to see if someone can take a look, seeing the stone is under warranty.
To say I was met with hostility would be an understatement. I was told point blank that because they hadn’t received full payment, they wouldn’t be honouring the warranty (illegal without that being agreed upon). They didn’t know what the substance on the stone was and they wouldn’t be doing anything about it (see photos of the streaks). They were SO unbelievably rude, raising their voice. I asked, is this all because you’re mad you had to give me a discount for the poor product I received? The answer was yes.
The whole experience was shocking. I’ve never in my life dealt with such a sketchy operation. Whatever you do some purchase the Moonstone product line, and don’t use this company to source and install your stone. Home Reno’s are stressful enough without dealing with companies like this that are out to take advantage of customers.
