Replacing all windows, patio French and entrance doors

Update May 15, 2014
A day after we placed the review below, Clara contacted us by e-mail, followed by phone calls next morning. We discussed all outstanding issues and scheduled necessary repairs for this Saturday.
We are pleased that Clara, especially Bobby and Raj, have made the effort to ensure our satisfaction with their product and service.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In December 2013, Clera Windows replaced all windows, patio French and double entrance doors in our house. We started whole process in early September with Bobby, who took time and effort to explain in details what Clera can offer to us.
At first we were thinking to replace only 3 front large windows (each window has half-round top) and kitchen/breakfast area windows including patio French doors, as those doors start to leak. We contacted few companies (5 to be exact) and spent time with their sales reps, discussing in details what they have to offer. Clera Windows came on top of our selection offering most “bang-for a buck”, having good quality of their windows, excellent reviews, decent selection of standard colours, life time warranty for their products and very competitive price (and that definitely got our attention).
At the end, we decided to replace all our windows (that includes basement windows), patio French door and main entrance door with wrought iron glass inserts - big project.
Bobby was very helpful in making final decision on what type of window to select for each area answering all our questions and concerns. We signed the contract in September, with expected delivery (installation) within 8-10 weeks.
Installation started 3rd week of December, almost 3 weeks later then expected. We were told that our 3 custom half-round windows were reason for this delay. We were fine with it as long as the work would be completed before Christmas holidays.
Installation was experience on its own. First was demolition, knocking out existing windows, mess and dust everywhere, plus December weather – cold.
Installation went fine while main installer was on site. Unfortunately, when he was away (needed to pick up our doors from Clera facility), his crew didn’t pay much attention to details. They were rushing to install as many windows as possible.
Regarding new windows itself, they are good quality product with small imperfections: plastic cut-offs in gaps designed to hold bug-screens, screens on tall windows are hard to remove/install, our 3 half round (and expensive) window jambs are not exactly half round so custom half-round window trim (provided by Clera) doesn’t fit as it should.
We are extremely satisfied with windows efficiency and noticeable savings on our heating bills.
After five months how we had our windows installed, we still have some minor issues that haven’t been addressed.

Approximate cost of services:
$28,000.00

Company Response

Dear Slaven, Thank you very much for business and we really appreciate your feedback. As per our records we received your service request in March and they were forwarded to our local branch. Our local branch ordered one sealed glass in April and he were to schedule an installer to go back and finish off the pending work. We apologize for the delays and we will try to get your service completed ASAP. Please feel free to contact our head office at 905-738-1870, if your service is not completed with in a week. Thanks - Admin

Replacing all windows, patio French and entrance doors

In December 2013, Clera Windows replaced all windows, patio French and double entrance doors in our house. We started whole process in early September with Bobby, who took time and effort to explain in details what Clera can offer to us.
At first we were thinking to replace only 3 front large windows (each window has half-round top) and kitchen/breakfast area windows including patio French doors, as those doors start to leak. Clera Windows came on top of our selection as they offered most “bang-for a buck”, having good quality of their windows, excellent reviews, decent selection of standard colours, life time warranty for their products and very competitive price (ant that definitely got our attention). Their pricing was significantly lower then any other quote. At the end, we decided to replace all our windows (that includes basement windows), patio French door and main entrance door with wrought iron glass inserts - big project (and costly, too)
Bobby was very helpful in making final decision on what window to select for each area answering all our questions and concerns. We signed the contract in September, with expected delivery (installation) within 8-10 weeks.
Installation started 3rd week of December, almost 3 weeks later then expected. We were told that our 3 custom half-round windows were reason for this delay. We were fine with it as long as the work would be done before Christmas holidays.
Installation was experience on its own. First was demolition, knocking out existing windows, mess and dust everywhere, plus December weather – cold. Installation team (Clera subcontractor) is in fact one installer and few helpers and friends. Installation went fine while main installer was on site, measuring gaps and ensuring that jambs (what were installed at later time) will properly fit. Unfortunately, when he was away (needed to pick up our doors from Clera facility), his crew didn’t pay much attention to details, knocking windows out without cutting nails and ripping drywall around it (with “I’m sorry” phrase). They were rushing to install as many windows as possible not using jamb template to level it with drywall.
While installing handles and locks on the doors, they scratch finish and later try to mask it with touch-up paint, not exactly what you expect when you purchase brand new hardware and have professional installation.
Regarding window quality, they are average, lacking finishing details: plastic cut-off in gaps designed to hold bug-screens, screens on tall windows are hard to remove/install, our 3 half round (and very expensive) window jambs are not exactly half round so custom half-round window trim (provided by Clera) doesn’t fit as it should.
After five (5) months how we had our windows installed, we still have some open issues what haven’t been addressed – wrong window glass has been installed on one of the windows, main (entrance) door draft, outside seal on main door inserts, damaged bug screen on one of basement windows. I’ve been calling Clera regional sales rep almost every week, leaving messages. I called Clera customer care as well – nothing happened.
