Let me start by saying that the product (the door) that was installed by Dodds seems to be excellent. It's the little things that count with customer satisfaction though, and unfortunately Dodds didn't bother with the little things on my door. When Dodds installed my new garage door, the installer cut the weather stripping across the top of the door 1 inch short. No big problem, I understand these things happen and he assured me he would be back to replace it within a few days. He also said he couldn't put the caulking around the capping that was done until he replaced the weather strip. Because Dodds had such a good customer rating, I figured he was good for his word and I paid him in full (big mistake), but I remained optimistic that everything would be resolved to my satisfaction. After all, Dodds prides themselves on customer satisfaction, right? Right!!!
More than a week later and several calls to Dodds, someone finally came back to replace the weather stripping and caulk the capping. The service guy didn't bother to knock on my door to say he was there, and when I went out to the garage later, I found that they had replaced the weather stripping across the top of the door, but not a speck of caulking was applied. Upon further inspection of the new weather stripping, I found that one end of the horizontal stripping was aligned just fine with the vertical stripping but the other end was out by about 3/4 of an inch. It looked like very sloppy workmanship by someone who didn't care. So, I called Dodds once again and spoke to Angela, who was very nice. I suggested that I send her pictures, which I did, and she replied promptly saying that I was 100% correct and they would have someone there within days to corrected the misaligned weather stripping and caulk the corners of the capping as was stated on my invoice.
A few days later, someone came to "fix" the misaligned weather strip and caulk the edges of the capping. Again, not bothering to knock on my door to say they were there to fix the problem. I have attached pictures of before and after the "fix". Well, all they did was apply the caulking and didn't bother to correct the misaligned weather stripping!!! I couldn't believe that anyone would think this was acceptable. Again, it looks like it was done by someone who just didn't give a damn. Maybe they thought it was "magic" caulking and it would somehow automatically fix the misaligned stripping! I sent a subsequent email back to Dodds showing these pictures and have received no response back, although I know the email was received and opened. I guess they feel this is acceptable. I don't share those feelings!
Each time I go out to my garage and look at that misaligned weather stripping, I think, wow, did I ever choose the WRONG company to install my new garage door. I really wanted to rate Dodds higher as that would mean I was happy, but I couldn't. Unfortunately at this point I couldn't recommend Dodds to anyone.
