We had unstained oak stairs in our 3-storey (plus finished basement) townhouse and needed them stained to match our pre-finished oak floors.
Demetris' quote was not the cheapest, nor was it the most expensive. But this quote covered sanding, staining, and finishing with 3 coats of urethane for the steps, risers, posts and sides. And we have a lot of stairs in the house.
He managed our expectations on how closely the colour would match given the differences in the staining process (rubbed-in for the stairs; sprayed on for the floors) and was concerned that the veneer along the sides might not take the stain evenly.
That said, he did an excellent job colour matching, and the veneer took the stain perfectly. The stairs look great now. And Demetris even cleaned up our basement and vacuumed the stairs to get rid of fine sawdust so that the finish was flawless.

- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- The only downside that I could think to mention is that there was a bit of a challenge getting a response from Demetris initially and so it took a while to schedule the work. But this is something I find often to be the case when trying to book busy-because-they're-good contractors. So if you find the same thing to be true when contacting him, my recommendation is to persist. The quality of the workmanship makes it worthwhile.
