During a gusty rain storm, one of the main three tree branches from our mature cherry tree fell down. We decided that we needed an arborist to come in and evaluate the integrity of the remaining tree. After the "expert" from Davey in our area evaluated the tree (are they in fact a certified arborist?), we were told that the tree was "strong" and just needed some trimming so that is what we hired Davey to do seeing that they were supposed to be a very reputable company. However, once the workers physically got into the tree and started working, the tree split in half and the remaining tree and worker came crashing down resulting in their worker being injured and our tree now damaged beyond repair! They then cut down our tree because it was deemed unsafe (and there was literally nothing left of it anyway) and a stump was left in the ground. We are told that we still have to pay the full amount of the invoice for trimming and if we want the tree stump taken out, that would cost an extra $290! How is this even acceptable since the tree was further damaged what your arborist deemed a “strong tree”? Why wouldn’t the original invoice be at least discounted or the stump removal included since we aren’t even left with a tree outside our front window that was the centrepiece of our yard? And why are we being treated so rudely by your staff that suggested that we “put a pot of flowers” on the hideous stump that’s left and the suggestion that this job already cost them more due to their worker being injured! We feel really bad for the worker but how is that remotely our fault?? Suffice it to say, I am INCREDIBLY dissatisfied with your company!
