Excellent from start to finish

The problem was that the bricks in the upper part of our chimney were deteriorating and the mortar was eroding because the chimney crown had not been made properly.

Brian came and explained the job clearly, how long it would take, when his team would be able to do it and provided a quote which I accepted.

It was a pleasure to deal with Cummins Restoration from start to finish. Brian responded to my initial inquiry quickly, the job was done on time and his team cleaned up brilliantly afterwards.

Chimney Repair

Brian cemented cracks and re-sealed the top of our brick chimney, which appears not to have been repaired since it was built in the 1940s. He did his work in a thoroughly professional, yet easy-going manner. We hired him to do this job after he had previously done some tuckpointing for us. It was serendipitous that Brian came our way in the first place. When we asked him to do the tuckpointing, it was because we had seen him working on a neighbour's house. Very satisfied with the result!

Highly recommended!

Brian came to give us a quote on some brick replacement work we have been putting off. His quote wasn’t the cheapest but based on the solutions offered by competitors bids, we felt that his recommendation made the most sense and would be a permanent solution so we went with him. His team was prompt and courteous and cleaned up the site at the end of each day and patiently answered any questions we had. They did an excellent job and we are so happy we made to decision to hire Cummins Restorations.

Block up Windows

We had two windows in our basement that were placed in areas that were not very useful. Brian removed both of them, blocked them up with brick and mortar, and finally parged the wall. We're very happy with his work and he kept the area very clean after he was done. This isn't the first time Brian was recommended to us, we've had other fellow contractors in the GTA give us his name for other work.

Repair flagstone front porch and window planter

Brian gave a detailed quote and reassured me that he could repair missing mortar and gaps in our front porch stonework. He did a thorough and excellent job of repairing the stonework. Brian told me when he could come, arrived on time and cleaned up the site very well. Cummins restoration worked at our home 6 years ago, and I highly recommend Brian as a trusted contractor.

Brick repairs

We contacted Brian to repair a large number of cracked bricks in one of the front corners of the house. The damage stemmed from freeze-thaw cycles of water spreading and penetrating between the bricks from the ground over the years. One potential challenge identified by Brian was the unavailability of bricks that matched the original size and color of bricks on the house. Replacement components would be thicker and darker. Brian proposed to meet the challenge by locating bricks that matched the original color as closely as possible and shave off material from the brick sides to adjust for thickness and width. In addition he offered to stain the new bricks to match the wall color as closely as possible. We were very impressed with Brian’s commitment to high workmanship and his elevated sense of artistic finish. His quote was highly competitive. The completed repair work turned out outstanding. In view of Brian’s high professional standards and the high quality of the completed repair, we are unequivocal in recommending Cummins Restoration for any category of brick repair work.

Masonry repair

I hired a contractor to fix a crumbling curb on the side of my house. It started disintegrating in 6 months. They came back and allegedly fixed it, but it fell apart again and they wouldn't do anything about it. Brian Cummins analyzed my issue right away and did an impeccable job not only repairing the damaged curb but advising me how to prevent damage in future. I found his quote to be very fair for the time, effort, and knowledge applied to the project since had to Jackhammer off the old damaged corner and down the side of the house and rebuild it. I highly recommend Cummins Restoration and will certainly hire this company again should I have the need. Now all I need to do is get some downspout extensions.

I should note that the pictures don't adequately show they work that he had to do on the side of the house between the driveway and the curb.
