Installation of a Ground Source Heat Pump
We signed a contract with Barrington Geothermal and provided a substantial deposit on May 31, 2006 for the installtion of a 5 ton heat pump with air handler and appropriate number of vertical holes in ground. The representative for Barrington Gerthermal was Ron. The contract refers to a 6 week time frame. It's important to note that the contract price was low compared to that quoted by competitors.
On July 13th, Ron delivered a 6 ton heat pump, one ton larger than specified wihtout explanation, and collected a second deposit. He showed us a laminated picture of a new drill head that was being built for him. He promised that after some test drilling near Barrie, it would be used on our installation. In a telephone conversation on August 21, 2006 Ron advised that it would be at least 3 weeks before he would start our job. We are still waiting!! It's been a long 3 weeks.
Several attempts to communicate with Ron via e-mail and voice mail failed to get any response. We were far too patient when Ron didn't follow through with any of his commitments. Our last voice mail message was on February 15, 2007 to a new telphone number that we found on his web site. We asked for our deposit back and have heard nothing from him.
After checking references this time, we have proceeded with ECR's new contractor, Al Davies of EcoOptions, and are very happy.
