Hardwood flooring, baseboards, and stairs
We were recommended by another family and from looking at Homestars reviews. Belle made choosing what we wanted easy, with lots of recommendations and suggestions, as well as promises that it would look great. However the execution was really poor. 1) Ensure Kevin is not the hardwood installer. He is on the phone constantly. Bad mouths Belle all the time. Gouged our floor in 7 spots (found so far). Tried to repair a deep one by filling it with putty when Belle told us the board had to be replaced. So he comes back unannounced at 6pm on a Sunday, and triggers our CO detector. Then there is the mangled baseboard with huge gaps, nails sticking out all over the place, etc. They were supposed to caulk the gaps (promised by Belle) and never did. And finally a piece of trim that they damaged, that was supposed to be replaced by them, and they have never come back to fix it - which is visible as soon as you walk into the house! 2) The stair treads have 1/16 to 1/8" gaps between the treads and the wall. There should be none as I have been told by other installers. 3) The stain guy leaned on a stair post and the nosing lifted. I was informed that they could make a repair from the painted wood below so the nosing and post would not be damaged. Instead they drilled a hole in the nosing and one in the post, filled with plugs, and then just stained. They were not sanded before being urethaned. The 2 patches are rough as a mop gets snagged on them all the time, and quite visible. I have asked for the post and nosing to be replaced, but no response as the expensive railing will have to be replaced too and they don't want to pay for it. 4) We had to touch up the stair stain (we found 3 spots missed) Note that you will have to clean stain off the floor and railing posts yourself, and clean/vac everything (we were promised a cleaner to come afterwards, but nothing materialized). This has been a nightmare and we wish we had not gone with them.
