Mike and his workers estimated the roof deck of some 625 sq ft and they proceeded to remove the old 2x4 decking with fence around three sides. The heavy decking needed to be cut up. moved and stacked for removal off the roof which is four stories up. While a lift was planned, it was changed to manually carrying all the materials down to the truck where it was then driven to Langley for dumping. There was one incident that happened that showed the good character and responsibility of D-6 when the old deck was being cut up the torch-on roof was cut in a number of places due to the worker not taken care of the distance the saw was penetrating. To Mike's immediate sense of responsibility, he obtained quotes from fives roofers and some 500 square feet of new roofing was installed at his expense to cover the error. Special exotic hardwood from Micronesia and supplied by Kayu Canada was then carefully and precisely installed as well as three sides fenced with clear cedar and glass. The finishing and with trim made this deck look very impressive.
