April 21/2017 we signed a Contract with Co. Rep. Cory for family room windows, patio door and front storm/screen door. We gave a cheque for $1700.00 deposit. Cory suggested we just replace the glass in the 6 windows and there would be no problem working around our window coverings without removing them. I found it odd that 2 days later Cory called to ask on which side of the storm door (looking from the street) were the hinges. June 21st crew arrived. When the installation was finished the windows coverings had been removed and left on the floor in the living room. Award owner Steve arrived at 4:00 Pm for the balance of $4000.00. When asked about the blinds they had removed he said they don't replace blinds but would pay to have them rehung. The windows were covered in dirt, hand prints and silicone sealant. They don't clean windows but offered to have his men clean them. We declined opting to have professional cleaners which we would pay. When his men left my wife gathered up our blinds but both were damaged to the extent that neither could be rehung when the Serviceman from Covers came several days later. When we saw the damage after Award left we were concerned whether Award would pay the damages until we got an estimate from the Serviceman. We stopped payment on the cheque the next morning June 22nd . Good thing we did. Steve must have seen there was much damage as he left our house about 4:00 PM and went directly to his own bank on King West and deposited the cheque. We live on the West Mountain. Total damage $311.84. There was a rainfall overnight June 22/23 and a call to Award 23 June to report a leak went but no response. On June 25th heavy storm and water poured in from several windows. Down the wall onto hardwood flooring. As luck would have it we were home and daughter and husband were visiting. Several towels used to sop up the water and many more placed on the 2 sills. On the 26th I went to the Showroom with a video of the pouring water. Steve showed no concern ,not even an apology. He called someone then told me a crew would come to the house. The windows were patched up. Clear sealant sloppily applied. Just a mess . 2 days later Cory arrived and asked about the balance cheque. My 82 year old wife was on an 8 foot step ladder checking on the towels for leaks and she said no cheque until we had a final damage cost. Cory said he would put a lien against our house if we didn't pay. Nice company.! We were threatened a couple of days later by Steve that if we didn't pay we would be hearing from his lawyers and it would be costly to us. Nice Company? We gave up,only because of our age and couldn't handle the stress and remitted a cheque for the balance minus the damages. $3688.16 which was accepted. Further to all this trouble I must mention the mess the installers left after the storm/screen door was installed. At our expense we will have it replaced by another Company who couldn't believe that anyone would leave such an unfinished mess and poorly installed door.
